Default New Exceed Falcon 40 V2

Hey Everyone,

I just got my second helicopter ever. About a year ago I got a Blade mCX. I've long since gone through the useful life of the rechargeable battery. Rather than replace the battery, I decided to step it up.

I just got an Exceed Falcon 40 V2. No surprise of course it is much harder to fly. I'm gonna start perusing the beginner section, but I wanted to see what I should be focusing on.

Here is what I have noticed. Out of the box, the blades were all lose. I tightened them up a bit. One of the blades on the flybar was tilted 90 degrees out of whack. I put that back the way I assume it should be.

The tail rotor doesn't kick on until your at about 25% throttle. So its not even really controllable on the ground. If I try to baby it, it just kind of wants to fall over. It seems the only real way to get it to be stable is to just ram the throttle to get it about a half foot off the ground, then get it stable.

It seems very difficult to trim. My assumption is that I need to adjust the blades to get them to track correctly. I'm going to watch the video on that after posting this.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I can tell this thing is going to be a blast to fly once I can get it under control.

Ahh, the Exceed RC Falcon 40, i had one of those when i started flying 3 years ago, i must say that you have just made the best investment to learn more about this hobby, but first things first, you should know that now that you have a larger heli its rather more dangerous than the mCPX and can bit you harder, so fly in a open space and be careful to fly it when there is people near you, since this is a Fixed Pitch heli the blades cannot be tracked as they have a fixed pitch built onto them (duh lol, im trying to be clear hehe), try to balance the blades and tighten them equally on the blade grips (the piece where they attach) this will reduce vibration caused by the blades, also you need to move the flybar paddles so they are completely horizontal, this will help to reduce vibrations and also check that the flybar is completely centered, both sides need to be equal in length and i think thats pretty much it hehehe, enjoy your new heli! and keep in mind to buy some extra main motors and tail motors as they work hard and they get hot after every flight (you need to wait for them to cool down)

As for the tail motor not kicking out as you move up the throttle stick, this is completely normal, the built in gyro works this way, it only reacts when the heli suddenly moves to the right or left because of the wind or torque of the motor, and as the battery discharges you'll need to constantly trim the rudder in order to compensate the change in motor speed and head speed, this is normal too for rate gyros, you can adjust the Gain or sensibility of the gyro by turning the potentiometer located in the 4 in 1 receiver with a little screw driver.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I'm loving this new helicopter. It took several flights to get a handle on this thing. It's nothing like a coaxial. I made the smart move and got a simulator. After spending a fair amount of time on the sim, I was able to get this bird hovering decently. I'm able to keep it in the air longer with each flight. I'm still landing it hard, and I've finally broken my first part (the rotor head), but I think I'm doing very well with it. I've wanted to fly helicopters since I was about 12. I wish I wouldnt have waited till my mid 30's to finally take it up. It's very addictive and very rewarding. I figure once I really get solid at flying this one, I'll bump it up to a 450 size helicopter. I got bored of the coax pretty quickly. I dont see that happening with this. It should keep me busy for a while.
