OP post has a bit of a taste against the Helicommand system with the bailout feature. That nobody at his field knows how to set it up does not make it a bad system. Actually its an excellent system.
That the pilot did not learn orientations but likes to flip it .... its irresponsible of the pilot and not caused by the FBL system. I have witnessed such stuff to and simply talk to the pilot but last thing I would do is blame the system.
Talk to the pilot and convince him to learn basics regardless the feture. If if you do not know how to tweak the system - contact helicommand support - they are great in helping plus there are plenty of others to.

The OP isn't against helicommand. He is against exactly what you said the problem was in your post. Bailout gives people the ability to fly well beyond their comfort zone, and do things they shouldn't resulting in a dangerous situation if they are not responsible in the use.
