Post What have you done with your Kasama today?

I thought we needed a thread like this as I'm sure there are plenty of people tinkering away. So here goes..

My Srimok Classic's motor started acting up last weekend (going lean when inverted) and it seems that the fuel tank cap finally let go and started sucking air. The part has been on my replacement list for a while but I never got around to it. Considering the airframe will be 5 years old in August and has done many hours I think that's pretty good going.

When replacing the tank cap I also replaced the clutch bearing block that got a bit of cosmetic damage about 3 years ago when I had starter shaft issues. I still enjoy flying this bird so much, it's been the cornerstone of my fleet since I got it (unflown) off my friend back in 2011.

I'm always tinkering with Kasama helis! Just about finished a Dune, stretched to 700...

Late last week it hit me that I wasn't sure if I'd greased the gearbox in my Faifa when I rebuilt it after moving. It had spent 3 months in a container and I hadn't serviced the helis before moving. I checked the box and it was bone dry. The gears seem to have worn a bit - that could explain the slight tail-fin vibe I had after re-assembling. The vibe disappeared after a few flights so I assumed everything just bedded in. I guess it was the gears wearing away.

Annoyed with myself as I seldom slip up like this. I cleaned it out and greased it, will fly it until my OCD can't handle it and then I'll replace the gears.

Flew the dune yesterday, crashed the Faifa a couple of weeks ago breaking both side frames, it is now striped down awaiting parts which have now been ordered together with a new kit.

It started to rain yesterday afternoon & as I am unable to fly until next Sunday (weather permitting) I am striping & replacing all bearings on the 90n.

Tried different tails. Diabolo tail works great, and the sk-rotorkopf works even better; very smooth out of the box

I had mixed fortunes yesterday.. the Faifa was flawless as always but the Srimok is still runnning lean when inverted. I changed the tank plug because that had cracked but that's it. The foam on the MOAS clunk looks stretched even though it's new. I think I'm going to change that next. I've run this clunk since the beginning, just did a foam change when I got it running again. Any other ideas?

Now with added picture from the day.

I'm finally ordering my first Kasama today.

Esprit have a sale on this weekend so will be ordering that Dune I've always lusted over.

They have 20% off on Kasama parts too I think. Is it worth stocking up on any specific spares? Are there common crash victim parts on the Dune?

usual, booms, tt, tail rudder control rod, crown gear, feathering shaft, main shaft, plastic ball links, skids, skid pipes, front frame portion, not saying you need them all, but if they got a sale

You can also get a second one as a backup.

Today (Wednesday) what I was going to do is fly my Faifa as I haven't flown it in quite a while now. I had it in the heli bag, LiPos charged and packed in my backpack, I was all ready to go and then the only other person that said they were going bailed. :-( (we have a two member minimum rule at this club). So I'll try again Friday as I'll be busy with work on Thursday.

I did hover it in the garden just to verify that everything is working. I have an 11 tooth pinion now and a Spartan Vortex on version 3.

OK, thanks ... I didn't end up buying any spares. Dune kit is on the way, however.

I considered picking up a second kit for spares given it was on special, but decided against it!

On another note, has anyone run two Gens Ace 6S 4000mAh 25C in a Dune? At 658g and 140.52 * 43.29 * 52.84mm, are they going to be too large or heavy for sport flying?

I was hoping to find some packs which will fit the Dune in 12S and also my Gaui X5 in 6S.
