Gt1200 died/shutdown while charging!
Anyone experience this before and know of something I can do to probably fix it on my own?
My Gt1200 stopped working this morning while charging 4 x Pulse 6s 45c batteries at around 20AMPS. Something flashed on the screen and I smelled something burning. I did not have time to take a photo of the display or remember what it said prior to the unit shutting down as I was a bit startled. There was no smoke that was visible from the outside of the GT1200, but there was a strong smell and it was not coming from the batteries as I initially thought. Prior to this incident the unit worked without any issues. I always ensure to first connect the PSU to AC, before connecting the charger to the PSU. And thereafter, I always connect the charge leads first to the GT1200 before connecting the battery packs or parallel board for parallel charging. I tried two different power supplies, but the gt1200 will not turn on. Is there anything I can do to revive the unit? I suspect some internal component is bad, but I rather not try messing around with the internals. I reached out to Revolectrix to see what else can be done. |

Apparently, my unit is not eligible for repair. I am told even though it is under warranty and less than a year old, I purchased it from a 3rd party. Hence, if I want it fixed I have to pay repair costs and shipping costs to have it repaired. Turnaround time is at least three weeks!
Warranty for Revoletrix products are not transferrable if purchased a third party. The unit was purchased from the classifieds here from someone who was given the unit by Revoletrix to review. Total bummer! My loss. Back in the market for another charger! I could pay to have it repaired, but it would still not be under warranty. Don't want to go that route as the unit could very well fail again. I really like the GT1200 (600W @12vdc) and may just consider repurchasing, but really don't feel like shelling out $180... but, if I do this time the purchase will be from the Revolectrix. Repairs suck - But service in Maryland great
I feel your pain... I just blew up my PL8 last December from stupid mistake I made... 3-4 weeks and $140 later I'm back in business. My unit was 4 years old.
Check the Singapore store... shipping is reasonable and they sometimes have a great deal on factory supported scratch & dent or refurb specials. They have a GT500 and PL6 available if you go to Bump Charger. Interesting that they have a 2 year warranty and lifetime service repairs listing in the Singapore store only: http://www.store.revolectrix.com/Pro...ttery-Chargers Add you get 20% off new batteries with a GT purchase...

I also found, being a little adventurous, after opening my GT1200 that two of the fuses in there were blown. They appear to be MTA 32v 40AMP male automotive fuses. With a little effort, I de-soldered them. Will order the replacements and see if it does any good (only a few cents a piece. Might as well try). Otherwise, I will place an order from the Singapore store. Thanks for sharing!! |

Replaced the two 40a fuses, put everything back together and it turned on. Not gonna celebrate yet. I will charge a few packs and see how long it will last. I'll post photos later.

Photos of the blown fuse. It was pretty straight forward to take out the fuse. Needed a solder wick to suck up any remaining solder.
I am in no way an expert or could you say I know what I am doing. Just used common sense. I would have preferred to have it done professionally, but I figured what's the worst that could happen? Just buy another one! |

Photos of replacement fuses. The legs on the fuse are longer then the original. This makes the fuse appear to not be all the way seated. If I pushed them down anymore they would stick out too far. Ended up getting a pack of 5 40a fuses from the local autoshop. Did not want to wait for shipment. Cycled several packs over the last day.
Thanks to all who reached out. This felt like taking the lonely road, but I am happy with the outcome! Cheers! |
