please can you take the motor apart, usually only needs removal of circlip and show us close up of stator, also placement of magnets in the bell to see if they're mounted equidistant. Looks interesting but pics will show if its more than that. Also please measure length and width of stator

I have the 450 size version of that motor, magnet are well equal, the winding is well made, it's supposed to be a copy of the 2221 scorpion, stator measure exactly 22 x 21mm, but bearing size are not the same, they are smaller, and they use 3 bearing, one at the top and two at the bottom, and motor not balanced of course.

Very very easy to remove the stator from the holder as well as the wire, looks like only weak locktite is used.

you wimp! , I understand don't worry, only when you get used to doing this it gets second nature. But let us know how it goes. If you can see from outside whether stator is coated under the wire, and maybe see magnets if they are spaced perfect it would help. Also maybe you can measure stator size from outside by guessing from what you can see the width and length, that will help thanks

Stolla,

Looks like it is a clone of the Hacker Turnado.

Pity about the small bearings! Got one on the way, so will see how it rewinds!!!

It's really easy to do. Takes about 1 minute to take apart and 1 minute to put back together. I do it on every new motor just to inspect the quality of the windings. You could catch something that could cause an ESC failure.

+1 to that, and with a cheap motor like this it's just normal routine to inspect it, I would also have put decent bearing in it before any flying to replace those crunchy one.

karl,
You say you have the SK3 480Kv? Have you tried to let it spin with no load and observed how it sounds? Just wondering since I received mine and the first thing I did was install it my E640 airframe and let it spin with no load at all and I seem to not like the sound while it is still at low RPM. I don't know, maybe I was just expecting a quiet motor. I understand the whining sound but it's something like a grinding sound that I don't like. I turn it by hand and it feels smooth. Only when I apply power into it and while it is at low rpm.

I haven't noticed any weird noises myself. I've only spun it up in the heli with just the main shaft and gear in.

The ESC will change the way the motor sounds. Which one are you using?
