I works really good into the suzi laos 800.

and custom winding is imho not really needed, only nice to have.
you can add about 1 grade in wire thickness against these factory windings - you won't feel the win from it, may be a little, little bit with the best batteries you can find.
Thanks will consider that. I like nice to have's...

Here's a 4540 prototype in action in a banshee.

Sounds amazing

hey that guy holding the camera looks familiar

HeliFX,

in fact you havn't been not to far away from the truth.
At the world record event a 4540 was built in into the second (the green one) speed-banshee.

It was thought as "secret wappon" if the power of 5035 "evo" (in the yellow one) would not have been enough to beat the concurrents.
but there was no need to use it.
may be next year, if Banshee will not have a newer development step build in.

compared with serial 5035 the 4540 is the stronger motor.
much stronger.
16S have been used for both motors.

interesting.

was flat wire gauge used with 4540 or standard round?

are flight times considerably reduced when pushing machine and motor to its limit's ?

I would guess your hitting some serious + pitch 22 degrees with no bogging
if so amazing that the blades doesn't go into some aerodynamic stall

was a "standard" round winding.

of course become flight times shorter and shorter if you try to test the limits.
the used energy must come from somewhere..... or?

about flying:
I have only a small 255 gaui and no real knowlegde about helicopter flying.
helicopters for me are me more or less "flying teststands" only.
personall iI love much more the speed flying with planes.

I've seen the planes too.

equally impressive

speed is additive

its like money its never enough

The quality of the windings is incredible.

yes, this is a new very interesting development!
the motorholding plate is integrated into the statorholder. (only one part!)
and the fan is direction optimized.
both makes the cooling much more efficient.
unfortunally this way is very specific and only usable for one heli- type.

but of course a step into the future.

may be, you built this motor?
my earnest congratulation!
I hope, you can give us some information about its inner life!

Hey Ralph,

I've only seen the Banshee on "Rotor-Live" the R&D for that motor comes from genius Sigi from the
"Banshee-Boys"

Sorry to high jack this thread but I need advice from the experts here I have a stock XXtreme and am considering the 4540 offered by scorpion is this a good fit ? and whitch winding would be best the 5t+5t or 6t+5t is this motor going to have alot more torque than the 5035? I have to stay at 14s so is the 160 enough for the job ? I dont want to strip gears or have huge heat increases is this a good motor for everyday flying? Thanks

custom motor looks very impressive and integrated motor mount and stator holder is nice idea.

judging by the photo the motor seems significantly shorter / smaller then say 4540.

are they looking to put it out to market or one time custom build ?

as far as I know, this motor is unique.
very nice cnc made and neat winded.

and yes, your eyes are really good!
it is much smaller than 4540.
it wasn't made as speed-powerhouse, but as lightweight for 3D flying.

I guess this would lead to my other question.

What would you recommend to take into consideration when winding a particularly motor for more general 3D as opposed to flat out speed ?

Lower kv certainly helps torque
straight ABC schematic according to your chart is primarily used for high speed applications.

Do you have such control with just schematic and winding or is it other variables outside the motor?
