Default Good for a beginner?

Hi,

I'm getting into helicopters after a couple years out of RC planes. I have been flying a small coaxial and spending hours on the simulator.

Would one of these stabilization systems be good for a beginner ready to take the next step and work with a 500 or 600 size helicopter?

I'm thinking there is a cost but a system might pay for itself over the longer term.

What would you recommend?

Thank you!

I have a CP2 (Copilot2) on my 600e and it's very good for the price.

Also have you read thru the STABILIZATION thread in this forum.

Thanks for the CP2 comments.

I'm looking for the thread you referred to, "STABILIZATION", and have not found it yet in this forum. But other threads I'm reading are helping.

Thanks

I've not crashed one of my Ap2000i equipped helis, yet. The ones w/o stabilization are anouther matter. I don't use it as a bailout now until I'm sure I'm not going to get out of a crash. That has become much less often as I fly more. If you want to progress in your skills, I feel you must do as much as you can before going to the stabilization. I still feel they are a great tool to have.

What exactly is a Copilot II? Is it a stabilization system? How does it work? Unless I am looking at the wrong item they appear to be very inexpensive, less than $100. I can hover, proficiently. Not in all orientations just yet, but it is not too much of a problem. What can this do for me? Can it help me practice circuits? Thank you.

CPII is a thermopile based system that "see's" the IR horizon and adjusts the heli to fly along the viewed IR horizon
As to the price.. I believe $209.00 for the complete system with delivery

As for what it can do..in a situation where you lose orientation a flick of a switch and your bird is upright and level...
