If I may ask what was the issue with using the stock upper frame sides?

Early on in development it was a real struggle to package everything. How the clutch stack interacts with the main pulley dictates what the frame looks like in that area. If you actually look at the 2nd picture on the overlay there are no provisions to mount the lower bearing block in the oem frame.

The executive decision was made to put the kibosh on that design constraint and we moved forward.

It will assemble very similar to a protos.

I have a Protos in 770 flavor and understand what you mean. It's hard to tell in the renderings but the rear skids sit proud, meaning you would have to fold them over before making full contact. I will be assembling mine as is and will test the idea thoroughly.

That being said I dont see an issue in designing a spacer set that allows you to drop ths skids down giving end users both options, function vs form.
doh! So we are still looking at both full frame sides as well as the lower half of the heli?

I'll admit, that is kind of a bummer, since it will require a complete tear down for a conversion (not an issue for a beginning build). I understand the the dilemma though.

Do you guys happen to know if the MSH Power Bus will still mount up? It appears to. That could be incredibly beneficial to get RX pack power cleanly into the system, and you could use one of the other signal lines for the throttle servo. Of course, you can still use the elevator servo spot as designed.

Yes, MSH powerbus will mount up, brilliant idea on their behalf

Does the conversion use the aluminum "spine" except for the motor mount portion?

Yep, that's correct.

Apart from the side frames the Aluminium bits are used (except motor mount).

No sir, as posted in the first post we will be seeing the prototypes somewhere around Christmas time, "no doubt there will be a significant prototype period and testing phase."

The 290RC is well known motor on the gasser side, it's reliability has been proven and I would say rivals Nitro reliability by a good bit. Lot's of people who just fuel and fly.

You guys are also going to make a Trex 700 conversion kit that is going to use the same engine?

You know the new Trex 700X probably could be converted into a gasser by just swapping the lower frame like the Raptor 700E conversion does. Unlike the Protos Max it does have a lower bearing block to support the pinion which could be repurposed to support the clutch bell.

Sort of putting the cart in front of the horse here.

If this powertrain concept works, and there is a demand for it, the next steps will be to open up more airframe options. That is purely dictated by market demand, if it's there though, I don't mind putting in the time.

Wow take my money I've been thinking about doing a gasser for a while now. This looks perfect nice simple and clean.

Will you be sharing the engine design, building and testing process? It would make compelling viewing.

That is just sick looking! Will a tuned pipe work with that big ol' main pulley jutting out?
