Good to know. If local auto parts has them it's easier then ordering from Oringsandmore.com.

I finally found the time to do the mod. Excuse the pics but I have not used my camera for a while and it doesn't work too well. Anyway the pics should be self explanatory.
As you can see, I made a little groove so the O ring will stay in place at the end where it's the most useful. With that groove, #007 seem to give the best tension. The outside diameter is pretty big though, so I had to file the center post of the frame to make room. I tried Dipweed idea of drilling a hole to stop the crack but didn't succeed too well. After ruining two horns, I gave up on that one. With the mrs bound to the radio I can force the horn to slip with an audible click and the gears inside stay intact. So it seem to work.

Very nice. It looks like it is time for Lynx to innovate a set of servo savers.

@Go For It: I tried it last night too and I concur that the #7 red silicone o-rings are the best bet. I did like you and applied force under power to make them slip. I'd say the amount of force needed was about the same between the #7 o-rings and the blue 450X dampeners so at least we know they're roughly equivalent to a known good tension. I like what you did to give them some room to move against the frame. I noticed they could potentially rub there. So I think I'll tackle that tonight. Thanks for following up and for the detailed pics.

Those of you that bought 100 packs, consider selling a dozen to me? Can paypal you a fair price and postage. If not, maybe I will look to see how my 001 collection is going and place a multi order.

I also have a 100 pack coming to me on Saturday or so USPS tracking says so. I have no issue sending you some next week if someone doesn't already.

Hello guys,
I would like to recomend you another material than O rings or silicon tubing. O rings are necesary to change every 2 or 3 months because they wear out quite rapidly. Here is my longterm solution (and in addition you can fine tune it's tension with pliers): https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?p=4877088 I haven't T-Rex 150, but I think that piano wire f 0.4mm would be good for 3D flying. |

Why would the orings wear out? They're just sitting on the servo horn giving a little squeeze.

Because they are uder permanent tension and that's why their diameter is bigger and bigger.
The same is for silicon tubing and especialy for heat shrink tubing. And the springiness of piano wire is much much better. (excause my bad english) |

I got mine from the auto parts store. They have a big red box full of nitrile orings (most auto parts stores have this). You just pick the quantity of whatever size you want out of it and they charge you for those. The 5/32" ID (#007 in the box) are the perfect size.
I wouldn't want a servo arm that breaks...then you'd have to replace them every crash. With this mod, there's nothing to replace. Just reposition the arm and go. |

Here is my first servo saver horn mod:
The o-rings I had lying around are ID 4.5mm / OD 6mm and they are quite thin compared to others who have posted, so I've gone for two o-rings on the horn with a tiny tiny drop CA glue to secure them. EDIT: Just a quick update to say that this mod has probably already saved my servos or swash. Had two hard crashes today on its head and both time the elevator servo slipped as it should do
