for the Beast X or the Vbar...both are great...I run the Beast X in one of my 550's, the Vbar in my other 550.
The Beast X I love because you don't need a computer to set up and if flys great right out of the box with no tinkering. The Vbar...well...what can you say...it is a Vbar...they have set the standard for FBL units for many years. I have a Total G in both my V50 and V90 because of the built in governor...but plan on changing out the Total G on my V90 once Vbar releases their governor upgrade to see how the governor update works on the V90 These days...all of the FBL units fly very well...I have been flying testing the following units for quite a while now...and all fly great! some take a little more tinkering than others...but fly great... Skookum 720: Trex 700E, Bergen Turbine, HC500 Total G: Velocity 50 and Velocity 90 Beast X: Outrage 550 Mini-Vbar 5.0: Outrage 550 Standard Vbar 5.0: Gaui X5 Helicommand HC3xtreme: Going into Fusion 50 If you want a good unit for good price...Hard to Beat the Beast X at $220 or so...but I have no experience with it in a Nitro...Standard VBar is proven in Nitro's... |

Hi,
cant tell you nothing about FBL units. I still love flybar! And I have the YS91srs installed, so for the mufller I dont know. but I just finished my velocity90. Well still have to fit all the electronics. its the kit with the updated parts. Everything is straight forward. Easy to build. Some things I came across: -starter adapter: I was unable to fit that one. couldnt fit one screw. (it was replace with the one from the first kits (setscrew version). Now its fine. -the ball links are terribly strong to fit onto the balls and even harder to fit onto the linkage rod. Solution: heat the linkage rod and then screw the ball link onto it. or use a screw to cut the thread first. -make sure to clean all the screws and parts with some alcohol or so....They still have some machining oil or whatever on them. If you dont clean it, loctite will fail. -almost all of the 2mm*5mm screws shared off. And I havent overtightened them, really I was very careful. They are VERY soft. I replaced all of them in the meanwhile. -my bevel gear in the front tail gearbox had quite some play forward and backward. check, that the teeth have good contact all the time. I fixed it with some washers I fittet in front of the first bearing thats beeing pushed up the bevel gear B... -when fitting the tail rotor assembly to the boom: make sure the tail pitch slider moves freely. check after each screw. -factory assebled stuff: take apart everything and check for loctite and tight fit of the screws. I found many screws, that were not tighened enough or didnt have locite on them. Well I think thats about the things I came across during my build. Biggest thing I didnt like was the play in the front tail gear box...Still have to talk to my dealer about this... hope that helps...Have fun building your new bird! cheers, cyril |

Here is a little shameless self promotion for my build thread, it covers most of the things that need to be tweaked on the 90 (minus the new tail shaft).

If money is not an issue, go a full size V-Bar, the external sensor makes vibe issues on nitro helis just that little bit easier to deal with. And as has been mentioned they have been THE standard for a long time.
