thats what i thought too. i reseeded the connections (went as far as reversing the connection, hey, troubleshooting, lol) - i tried to rebind, and same results. looks like i gotta attempt a new motor....direct drive for the win.... =\

Check where the wires are soldered onto the 5in1.They WILL break eventually.

They may look like they are good but as the wire weakens and begins to break strand by strand you will lose voltage to the motor.

Yea, I've gone through two of them, and that was my symptom as well. The plug-in wires are so thin that they break inside of the insulation just ahead of the heat shrink. A little tug on each of them separately will confirm if that is your problem as well, as the insulation will stretch at the break.

Both motors are still good, I'm going to try to fix them. but soldering those wires is gonna be tough, they are as thin as a hair.

Cheers!

Main rotor spins CW. Body reacts to the torque of the main motor by spinning CCW. The thrust of the tail balances that reaction by pushing the tail CW.

So if you see the body spin uncontrollably CCW its an indication something is reducing tail rotor thrust: bent rotor blade, rotor blade spinning on the shaft, failing motor, bad wiring, etc.

In the event you see the body spin CW uncontrollably its an indication the tail motor is overpowering the main motor and is usually an indication that the main motor is failing or something is amiss with its wiring.

The simplest way to diagnose is to have a spare tail boom and main motor on hand, pop it on and see if it fixed the problem. The motors wear out and the tail motor is prone to crash damage — side impact can push the back of the motor off — so you'll need a spare sooner or later. Putting heat shrink tubing or tape over the tail motor will help prevent crash damage.

Check the tail rotor and bearing. When I replaced my bearing, it did the same thing, but I pushed the rotor in a little more and it was good to go. Just something to check before you drop the cash.

I like the heat shrink on the motor for protecting the wiring but it has a trade-off in keeping heat in the motor which is not what we want. My tail seems to be blowing out in the last half of a batt after the motor heats up.
