I'm not positive but I do know my blade 4503d and my SR are completely different. They will not work. Maybe check the blade 450 bible and see if the 400 is the same as the 450 if so then not. Hope this helps

I think they're too deep, but not positive. I'm pretty sure they won't work...

See if the part numbers are the same on HH, or go to your LHS and compare in person?

Okay, went into the lhs and poked around. Found a set of 400 grips and bought them. Came home and started tinkering. First thing I did was try to slide the paddle control frame pushrod(EFLH1163) over the grips it was a tight slide but I got them on. Second I noticed there was no play at all. They wouldn't move up and down at all without manual force. That's when I noticed angular piece between the grip and the mixer arm protrusion of the grip.
So, problem solved right? Nope, the 400 grips are a few milimeters taller and the bolt barely comes out the bottom of the grip. So I put a blade in and noticed the bolt is bigger for the 400 as the nut retaining hole on the bottom of the grip is much larger. But I was still able to get the stock bolt and nut in it. This caused not much movement in the blades themselves, but possibly workable.
So on I progressed thinking this might actually work. It might look funny, but it still might work. On I moved to the bearings and brass bushing. Here's where the story ends as success slowly slips away from me. The outer bearing is the same as the SR. But the spacer is slightly larger in diameter and the inside bearing seems to be a bigger bearing. But hey, I have a few of those laying around from my CX2. So I popped one in and voila it fits. But then I started thinking how is the spindle going to stay put and grab the grips if the hole for the inside bearing is so much larger. That's when I realized it wasn't going to work.
It was worth a shot, and now I know for sure.
Tomorrow I'm ordering metal grips and mixer arms. Should I look into the Delrin main gear and a metal swash plate, as well? Would an all metal head help at all?

Maybe the brass sleeve from the SR will slide in?

Yay-uh! the stock brass bushing just barely fits inside the bigger bearing hole. I had to tap lightly with a hammer to get it to set in flush. Going back out now to see how much farther I can push this envelope.....Thanks for the idea!!!! I love this place....bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

I got everything on and had to retro fit one pitch control link. Either way, the grips or something caused erratic flight and a heavy list backward. So no go.

Hmm...and you're sure the CG is good if not a little forward of the main shaft? This might be a good reason for an FBL conversion. Either way, still better than the SR (IMHO) once the kinks are worked out...and still cheaper than a tail conversion.

Blade 400 grips may be good to use in the FBL BSR conversion.
