They've been working well for Mikado for over 25 years. They also did well at the recent 3D Asia Pacific competition.

Perhaps they are actually the future.

Old, crappy, hard-to-repair plastic frames are a thing of the past. So is mechanical mixing...

Much better technology exists now. Easier to work on, easier to get parts, cheaper to crash, more power, more stable, more reliable...

I too am sorry that the Raptors have gone-they were/are good flying, long wearing machines.

I still have my Raptor 50 (converted to FBL with a Compass/TracX head) and my Raptor 90 3D.

Well made, good flying aircraft!

I love my raptor 50 and learned a lot while flying it.
At the moment i am hoarding second hand raptors for spares so i can keep it going as long as possible.

Also got a JS models TZ 50v2 but prefer the raptor.

Default Raptor 50/90

I also love Thunder Tiger Raptor 50/90's. I have collected a few over the last few years including the SE, Titan and 3D versions of each and also the X50. They are mostly fly barred versions which I find easy to set up with a simple gyro and less electronics to worry about.
The X50 flies particularly well very nimble and responsive even with a fly bar. I do have a fly bar less torque tube version of the X50 running Beast X as well and it is awesome
I find all my Raptor Nitro helicopters are reliable and solid machines and I will fly them as long as I can. I sometimes manage to get spares from E-bay as LHS are low on parts now. So the answer to O.P. is yes I wish they still made them.

Since Graupner bought thunder tiger I think it is highly unlikely that will happen. They don't seem to be heavily invested in the heli business. They are trying to get a share of the drone business but I doubt that will go well.

I agree. The .30 Raptor was cheap to buy, stable and easy to build and cheap to repair. It was just flat out simple and fun.

Throw a cheap head hold gyro on there and you are flying. Now days nitro is being killed off, and you are forced to go FBL. All the 3D stuff ruined the hobby.

I'm done with helis. Half the market chased the 3D guys, the other half stopped selling helis to chase the drone kids.

Plastic frames were cheap to buy, cheap to fly, cheap to crash, flew on cheap wood blades. And the heli was fun.

Now if you want in the hobby you have to dish out $800 for some Align DFC flybarless kit. The you have to buy all the expensive electronics for it, expensive blade, complicated setup, etc. It's just become overly expensive and overly complicated for beginners or people why just want to keep it simple and cheap.

Not all of us want to do 3D. The heli hobby has just become absurd.

Please tell us what kit you can buy today that is easier to work on, easier to get parts, cheaper to crash, more stable and more reliable than the Raptor 30?

The heli hobby is shambles. Nitro has been killed off, the .30 heli has been killed off, flybar has been killed off. Now everything is expensive wizz-bang 3D stuff.

So the rest of the world moved forward, and you chose to stay in the past. That's okay.

To answer your question, the Audacity Pantera is a model specifically designed for people with your needs.

They still have nitro models, and you can still use a flybar if you wish.

http://www.audacitymodels.com/Produc...2/Default.aspx

Kits starting at $380.

You can even use your trusty 72MHz radio with it.

They also have low cost servos and can walk you through setup so you can get to hovering with very little hassle.

http://www.audacitymodels.com/

If you're interested, you could pick up the phone and call them to get a kit set up. But it seems that you're so upset with progress that perhaps your time would be better spent in another hobby. Clearly you're not having any fun, so why bother?

Default 3d printing to the rescue ?

I keep a v1 r30 new, so once 3d scanning and printing becomes good enough i can print new frames, gears ect.
And by that time they hopefully came out with a "hobby cnc lathe to make new spindles/ main shafts and the like.

soon we can make our own and not be depending on big companies anymore.

Super good, dirt cheap!

Some of us OLD folk still like antiques. They have a character of their own.
I still fly a Raptor 50 along with a MSH Protos 500, Trex 450 and a Blade 230S. I also fly planks and racing quads. Enjoy every bit of it.
