Default Genius CP draws blood

Third battery pack of the morning, getting frustrated with my lousy 3D skills, got a little sloppy and let the heli get a little too close to my face, so swatted it away like a bug with my hand, but it bit back! Nice little slice on the side of my fingertip. Stings like a mother.

Lesson learned: Yeah it's a small little heli, but at nearly 4000 rpm, those thin little blades do slice! This is not a toy!! Be warned!

Moral of the story... don't swat helis when they're close, move out of the way instead!
(not to mention if you get used to the habit, you might try swatting a 700 out of the way and... you know... )

Got too used to my old Blade mSR. I used to land that thing in the palm of people's hands. No way those blades could draw blood, but this is a different beast entirely!

Not sure why you didn't move backwards or simply fly the heli away from yourself. Lesson learnt obviously though.

The genius has caught me in the arm and leg a few times and it hurts. I can't imagine what a larger 600-700 size heli would do. They're like flying lawn mowers.

Lucky it was your genius
Happy recovery

Ouch. I've been attacked by my GCP twice. Luckily the first time was outside in the garage where I was wearing a heavy leather jacket. Doesn't phase it.

Second time was in living room where it hit my chest. That one stung with just a heavy long sleeve on as it grazed a nip!

I can completely relate. I've also encountered many situations where I have to discipline my heli, so a little tough love is sometimes necessary as most of these are spoiled right out the box. If you want to be more proactive, however, I suggest you don't wait till the last minute when the aircraft is airborne. You might find it more effective to discipline it while it's on the ground or while holding it. Spanking it/calling it "bad heli" sometimes helps, but do so lightly as you don't want to damage it it's tail boom. Another drawback with this method is that there are some known cases where the heli actually likes it and misbehaves on purpose just to get this sort of punishment. My advice is get to know your heli, what it likes/dislikes and establish a positive reinforcement system (i.e. rewarding it with upgrades).

Hope this helps

Cheers

I tried to catch my Wasp Nano (basically a Super CP) in my hand by the tail boom... Didn't work... The heli slipped and whacked the tip of my finger and my wrist. It swelled up like a cat scratch. Lesson learned.

I haven't been bitten by any of my microhelis; though I've gotten love-nips from the tailrotors on all of my 450s at one time or another...
