Default Geeze I feel like this should be a sub-group to the TDR forum :)

I'm just watching TDR owners one by one line up for a Diabolo...

I expect to be in that line eventually myself

The two forums do go very nicely together, the Henseleit forum has a huge wealth of info on power plants and radio that is relevant to the Diabolo, the Diabolo is a lovely helicopter and its flight style is very complimentary to the TDR. I can see many endng up with both

Just need some more canopy designs

I almost bit on the Diabolo. Had one all lined up to buy. The problem is I can have a Diabolo or a TDR but not both. So I took my TDR to the field to give it one last flight to make sure I want to sell it. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!? It flies like butter in the air, so precise and locked in. I'm sure the Diabolo is great but there's nothing wrong with the TDR either. Maybe someday I can have both but for now its the TDR

I love my TDR as well!

I'm in no way showing a lack of appreciation for it by looking at building a Diabolo.

Honestly I'm really not lacking for anything right now. The TDR flies superbly!!!!!

I've promised myself to wait until next Fall to consider another heli, and I will keep myself to that, but I will still ask questions and watch closely and take notes.

It sounds like they like nearly identical equipment.

I think that's largely true, the Diabolo is more accommodating for the larger motors and the higher kV motors and can also swing the 753 blades.

So does that mean we need to schedule a TDR / Diabolo & Wine Tasting event at some luxury resort with enough room to do a speed competition?

Maybe we could have a new TV show, " Lifestyles of the TDR & Diabolo owners"

It would run against, "Pimp my Heli", the story of TREX upgrades. We just got our 700e TDR conversion kit and we're just going to stick a few flat screen TV's over here and a big subwoofer over there.

How does the Diabolo differ from the TDR?

Same way blondes differ from brunettes or a BMW from a Mercedes.

Seriously, although there seem to be similarities or common origin of components, it is a bit futile to compare as much depends on their choice of powertrain, blades and FBL setup.

It is a given that both are superbly engineered and produced.

Obviously the TDR is TT whilst the D is belt, both implementations work well though either can have minor problems.

The frame and head is a little stronger and stiffer on the Diaolo enabling larger power trains to be more easily used.

The canopy on the TDR is a bit more aerodynamic and can more easily accommodate knife edge.

The cyclic response on the D is a little quicker, both are very precise.

Both are superb in FFF, the TDR maybe a little lighter.

The D is a bit more visible in the air due to its fatter boom..

That's just my random thoughts, I have and am going to keep both. If you're a heli monogamist you're gonna have a hard choice unless you remarry. In Thai parlance you could have TDR as mia yai and Diabolo as mia noy but you're gonna be torn finding enough time to spend with the two!

Problem? Is all you think about are helicopters? If one of these describes you:

"I sold my first born for a Kosmik"
"I was a happy alcoholic, now I am addicted to helicopters"
"Gigalo......wot me?......."

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Ok, as far as getting my dirty little hands on a Diabolo, I'm assuming the best or may e only way is to order straight from MC? Also, any idea on the delivery time? Looks like the kit is $1050ish shipped to CA. Still trying to decide if I want just sell my E7 airframe because I'll have to sink another $200 into it for the TT. I'm seeing them go for as low as $500, and I'm not sure I want to do that, maybe just hang onto it. Decisions decisions. I do really like having only 3 machines at a time for ease of management.

That is not true my friend, I tried ordering from minicopter directly but Gerd discouraged me saying the waiting list in europe is way too long and he wants us to order from his US distributor. You need to contact Chuck Birt at peakaircraft.com. I ordered mine from him. There is a shipment already lift Germany few days ago, call him and see if he will have any extra kits available.

- I need to remember to order XX and YY
- Voodoo?
- Remember hotel for IRCHA
- I should really check those bearings on the TDR
- I am wanting to fly the Logo 400SE more and more, tonight I'll advance on repairs
- I wonder if there's anything new on HeliFreak
- Uuuuh, another Timo video!
- 10 helis, 1 on the way, which is next?
- Banshee
- 4540
- I am NOT getting an 18MZ. Call to local dealer: how much are you selling it for?
- What am I going to buy at IRCHA?
- Dam that storm better come monday!
- Nice, sunday afternoon and no crashes
- Need new lipos
- Choosing new car: how many helis can I fit back there?
- I should really start dating... not now.
