Default MCPx v1 vs v2

Alright guys if y'all don't know I'm newish to the helicopters. Added the new mcpx v2 to my large fleet of airplanes. I love this helicopter to death its fun fast and easier to learn on because if you crash just check every things in place and your good to go. My main question is what is the main difference between the v2 and v1 besides whats written on the box. I see a lot of y'all like the v1 better why is that?

without getting into great detail, V1 board has a better gyro system and is less sensitive to vibs, doesn't have a problem with radom 1/4 piro's, can convert to any type of brushless without issues. Most V2 brushless are only successful with a C0M5 brushless and only a few have been successful with other variations. My V2 tail will not stay locked with pitch pumps.

V2 comes with gromets on the outer swashplate balls installed and a V3 tail rotor. Other than that, the rest is the same.

Default Hey

I have hundreds of flights on a V1 and 3 months of flying on my V2. I do have the 1/4 turn with my V2 which can happen twice in a flight and then not see it for 4 or 5 batteries. I personally think the V2 flies better and has better throttle response. Based on a poll I posted here about 30% of V2 users have no problems. I have also read some people are having problems with brushless on the V2. I have a friend with a V2 brushless with no problems and no 1/4 turn issues. I ordered a brushless setup and will be giving it a try on my V2 next week.

If you have a V2 with no problems don't worry about it

i do like my v2 more aswell..the throttle response is much better and flipping it seems quicker too...

Out of the box, I'm not sure. Good question!

board should have "mpcx 2 v1.1" or "mcpx 2 v1.3" or "mcpx 2 v1.5" printed on it

Actually the V2 board has a better gyro system. A better gyro chip will be more sensitive to any movement including unwanted vibrations.

In my best numb-skull voice: Since my upgraded V2 Brushless MCPX flys like Crap it must be the 3 in 1's V2 Gyro Chip fault. And I will call Horizon every day for a year untill they do something about it! Who cares that I don't have the knowledge to properly setup a heli and balance components to get a vibration free flight.

As maarset points out, upgrade to brushless at your own risk. None of the mCPX boards was designed for use with a brushless setup. On larger heli's, the FBL units have gain settings so you can tune it as you mix and match different components on the heli. Vibrations, different speed servos, tail authority etc.

The mCPX FBL unit has fixed settings for the FBL that should have been optimized for a heli in stock form. It is not surprising that in non-stock form it (the FBL unit) does not perform as well.

mpcx 2 v1.1...is that a V1 or a V2?
mcpx 2 v1.3...is that a V1 or a V2?
mcpx 2 v1.5...is that a V1 or a V2?

If those are all V1s...what indicates a V2, or if those are all V2s...what indicates a V1?

They're all version 2 boards with revision 1.1, 1.3, 1.5. Hope that's clear enough

So, if mpcx 2 v1.1 is a V2 board...what does a V1 board say on it?
mpcx 1 vx.x?

Take a look at some of Liftbag's photos of the brushless mods he has done to V1 boards, and you can clearly see mCPV3.9. Above that, is 201011, which most likely is the month of manufacture.
So, if nartac is correct...here's how you tell a V1 from a V2:

(the lower case "x" in these examples are variables, and can be any number)

mCPVx.x = V1

mCPX2Vx.x = V2

Now THAT is a clear explanation...but is it correct? I don't know. Nartac only answered half of the question, even after two attempts.
I'd look through for photos of V2 boards or an explanation from somebody from HH.

Curious, what is that chip for on the v1 board?

Oh and the quarter turn is caused by vibes I think. With one setup it will work fine, then something changes and I start getting quarter turns, well mine are more like 1/8 turns. I was having the same thing with my protos.
