Default Installing Zenoah into Spectra Tips

The first step in preparing the Zenoah motor into a Spectra-G 3-D is to remove the stock back motor plate in order to replace it with the carbon plate that is used in the kit. Many builders (myself included) have had a real problem with some of the slotted mounting bolts (some of the bolts are JIS phillips type) that hold the stock plate on the motor. These bolts are soft steel and are slotted (or JIS phillips type)countersunk design.
First make sure to use an adequately sized screw driver that is square tipped (not rounded off) (or JIS type phillips) and try to remove the bolts while holding the motor in a rag. It is also useful to rotate the crank shaft until the piston covers up the porting on both sides of the motor. I also use paper towel pieces carefully poked into the ports to ensure foreign matter does not get into the cylinder.

If the use of a properly sized screw driver does not seem to budge the screws with reasonable effort, try heating the case lugs that the screws go into with a micro torch or some other heat source, then retry. You should be able to get these screws out with a combination of applied heat and a little force with a properly sized driver.

Remember, take your time and urge the frozen fastener out of the case, don't use brute force and strip out the slot on the screw.

Actually, the t-bar type phillips driver that is supplied with the Zenoah motor will work very well if the screws are of the JIS type.

Hope this helps!!
