Default Will bigger main blades be more stable?

Looking to get the Fusion FBL kit. Now I do forward flights, basically taking it easy.

Will bigger main blades, like 640mm Edge blades work, if that is the longest they make?

If I go bigger on the main blades, Will I need bigger tail blades as well? What size?

If someone can some that up for me that would be great!

By the way I most likely would use a 12 cell lipo, if that helps.

Lastly, can I go with 623 mm main blades going 6 cell lipo? what size tail blades?

Thanks HFs

I love the 623mm edge blades. 640mm are hard to find.. Edge doesn't make them nor do most brands.

What size tail blades? If I do go with 623 mm main blades.

Will 6 cell be efficient to swing those blades?

Thanks Slyster

No.. 6s uses 550mm blades only!

What motor and ESC do you have?

Sure.. but before you buy anything you need to decide how you are going to run the heli... since your starting from scratch I'd suggest a 12s machine running 623mm blades.. its just so much more fun than when I was on 6s and I get 7 mins of flight time with Gens Ace 4000mah packs. Look at the sticky 'fusion 50 setups' to see what others are running.

Is it flybarred or FBL?

I can only comment on the FBL version, but it is pretty darn stable.

Can't speak for the skookum, but you'll love the 12s Fusion swinging 623s!

Any bigger than 95mm tail blades on the Fusion 50 and they will hit the ground. You would need to add extra protection on the vertical fin.

The longer the blades the more stable the heli without doubt. Although the Fusion is sold as being able to swing 640s, as Sly stated you will find it hard to get some and the increase in stability over the 623s is probably barely noticeable. I fly 623s and as others have stated, the heli is as steady as a rock with those on, especially when coupled to a good FBL controller like you are proposing to use.

If using 623s then the 95mm tail blades are more than sufficient. If ever I get a blow out (can't remember my last one) then it is because I have screwed up.

So, to cut a long story short, what you are proposing will be an excellent set up:

12s (do this from the start and it will save you money in the end)
623mm mains/95mm tails
ESC rated at 80A or over (new CC appear to be good news now).
Scorpion 4025 (I don't think there is any need to get anything above this unless you are a complete 3d nut and just want insane power). The 4025s have bags of power as is, plus your gear train well stand up better to it in stock form.
Torq servos.

To make it the mutts nuts I would consider perhaps moving to Vbar and a compatible ESC because the Vbar gov is fantastic (not sure if the Skookum has one and if so how good it is). If you did this I can see no reason to upgrade anything in the future.

"If ever I get a blow out (can't remember my last one) then it is because I have screwed up."

I agree-I cannot get mine to blow out under any circumstances.

I am running Compass 615 main blades and KBDD 96mm EE Tail Blades (Bright Orange, of course).

Align servos will be fine. I use a pair of Gens Ace 6s4000mah 25c packs... 7 minutes of flying.. they come down cool.
