In the 'old days' of 72 Mhz radios, flying fields had a 'Frequency Board' where any flyer using a particular channel was required to place a marker to signify he was using the channel. No other flyer was allowed to turn on their transmitter on the same channel while the flyer's marker was on the board. This is because any 72 Mhz receiver will respond to a signal from any transmitter on the same channel.

On the other hand, 2.4 Ghz transmitters and receivers must be 'bound' before they can communicate. Once the process is complete, a particular receiver will, at least in theory, only respond to a signal from the transmitter it is bound to. Transmitters with 'model memories' can be bound to different aircraft at the same time, but receivers can only be bound to one transmitter at a time.

If you're familar with Bluetooth devices, the binding process is similar to 'pairing'.

THANK YOU FOR THIS POST OLIVER!!!
Remember about 1 month ago I stated that I fried my 4&1 trying to solder on a new antenna. Well, to take it further, When I pulled my 4&1 out of it's case to solder the antenna on, and bieng unfamiliar with the reciever, I thought the bind key area was the antenna receptical and dug around trying to find the hole the antenna went in. (duh). Anyway, I finally got around to reading the instructions and located the proper place to solder on the antenna. When I put it all back together, the tail rotor barely ran, the elevator servo did'nt work and I chalked it up to my screwing around with the bind key area of the reciever. ANYWAY, today I was about to order a new reciever, but for some reason, read your article about binding. I decided for a laugh to give it a try and re-bound the 4 & 1. Guess what. It now works perfectly!!! Anyway, I just put 2 battery packs though it today in my gym and the bee is in the air again!! Hovered around Superblades tracking perfectly with no viberation. Tail rotor working about as good as the bee gyro could possibly be. THE BEE IS HAPPY! Thanks again!!

Thank you all for the positive feed back and Chris, what a great story. Glad it helped
Binding is so quick and easy so it's always worth trying, when you have a problem.

Thanks again everyone

I actually have 3 heli all bound to the same transmitter. (2 Bees and 1 Lama)
Adjustments were made with the links so all 3 helis hover hands free without ever touching the trims, just turn on the TX and fly.

Default Binding issue

Reviving Old Tread i know but it seems to be the best place to post.

i have this old honey bee and i can not no matter what i do get it to bind with the standard controller i do not have the button on the receiver as shown in the video. i bought a new receiver with the intention to replace the old one but that one does not have the button either. Do anyone know if i need to use a jumper on this kind of reciever to make it bind or how this is supposed to work?

Error:
Receiver changing between red and green
Transmitter doing nothing at all.

Receiver model number is 000108
Transmitter model number is ET204A

if you want me to make a new tread plz say and i will do that.
