Tail brass sleave
Can you run without it? None of my other helis have it and they are fine, the reason i say this is because i was flying it today and all the sudden there was a screaching sound and the tail was shaking. Brought it down and noticed smoke coming from the tail gears i think the gear was rubbing so much on that sleave that it was smoking. I already ca'ed the gear onto the bearing but it still touched the brass sleave. Right now i removed the sleave and added a shim to get the right mesh looks like the way my 550e is now. I will fly like that and see what happens.

forgive me if I am wrong, been a while since i built the tail case on one of these, but isn't' that spacer what keeps the main shaft and gear in place? I mean doesn't it not hold the mesh on the gear, and thus why sanding it is needed to install a shim behind the gear to adjust mesh per the mod thread?

I added the shim and the mesh is perfect, Other helis (align) dont have that brass sleave and the mesh is fine on those

Be careful gear broken due to the lateral force along tail rotor shaft during you play left rudder (Heli rotate CCW) .
I thought the tail brass sleeve for fix a tail rotor shaft in tail box and carry force during rudder movement. |

Align not have the brass sleeve due to they made attached to the tail rotor shaft, you can see a tail rotor shaft presented 2 sizes of diameter. |

It is the thread titled "Most gear stripped location" or something. I am not sure how much he has flown it. |

The brass sleeve serves the same purpose that the step does on the Align tail shaft-it keeps the tail shaft from moving laterally and changing the gear mesh as the tail pitch is changed.
I got my Fusion from a friend, used. The brass tube was missing. I purchased the tail gearbox just to get it. I would not fly the machine without that present.

When I built my kit the gear was not rubbing on the brass sleeve until after I CA'd the gear into the bearing. I guess it was able to move just a few .001's when I was letting it set. I just sanded the head of the gear a very small amount to give me the clearance I needed from the brass sleeve.
