My instructors just split the spindle shaft in half while hovering apparently. Not quite sure what to make of that right now.

Take it easy... I had the same thing happen with my 450, threw it in the trash once!, I walked away for a while, then got some help, and now it is on my fav to fly list!

Do you have the new hb/bearings on?
My tail is ROCK SOLID. Today i did some fast backwards circuits, high tail slide and big sideways loop and it didnt even give the slightest wag.

This is with everything stock accept the tail servo, which is the HSG-5084.
My tail was truely crap before the new hub.

Grant, the new tail hub doesn't cure all ills. Not for all of us. In fact, the new hub is identical to the original hub. I have tried two 1.2mm bearings per grip (upgrades from stock), as well as one 2mm bearing and two 2mm bearings per grip (Gaui part). Spacers used within as appropriate. My tail assembly is fine mechanically... I'm convinced. I can't lock-in my tail in any of the above scenarios. I even messed with the two tail blade configurations, including cutting down a set as was suggested elsewhere. Among all the other changes mentioned above, I've played with head speed and gyro delay. Nothing has worked. By the way, I've been using a JR DS290 tail servo for all the tests, which many have had success with.

I'm going to order a Spartan gyro. I can't come up with any other things to try.

Very strange. Theres 3 trex 250s that fly arond here, 1 mine and 2 freinds. All 3 were sper combos and all three had tail issues. As soon as the new hb and bearings were in all 3 of us had really good tails.
Mine is absolubtly rock solid, stock gyro but the larger HSG-5084 servo. One is using stock servo and hyperion servo, this hold really well during tic-tocs etc but sometimes has a little wag in backwards flight etc. The other is 100% stock and flies well and holds very well but i dont think the stock servo is upto it as it isnt a rock solid hold with abit of wag every now and then. Its 3D capable, just not crisp like mine.

All three helis are on the standard settings, 0 delay. Have you tried the new hub and bearings from align (not aftermarket berings etc)? And if so and it still isnt working i would try out the hitec servo i listed above.
I'm loving the align gyro so far!!

Yep... I didn't get the RMA'd replacement hub from Willy Pong yet, but tried a new version of the tail hub and bearings I ordered from GrandRC. No change in behavior, so no luck.

We have one other T-250 in the local club... DesertClimber's. He got the tail locked-in with the 15T pinion and the same setup otherwise as mine, but couldn't do it with the 16T pinion. The Spartan gyro cured his. I figure I may as well just throw in the towel and get the Spartan Gyro now, so I don't go through all this again if I change pinions or go to the CF blades.

DesertClimber's T-250 does 3D like a bat outta hell with the Spartan. In a gymnasium, no less. He's got video, and I hope he posts it here.

Well, between the super combo, the upgraded DS290 tail servo, a gob of batteries, receiver and spare parts, I already have over $700 invested, so I'm not going to throw it away. Instead, I'll throw good money after bad.

I may have given up until I saw DesertClimber's T-250 first-hand, and it was awesome. I think it's worth the investment.

i love my t-rex. i had an oopsi tonight flying. i was doing aileron tick tocks about a foot off the ground in my friends church. i go to low and the tail hit the ground and took off both blades. i got it kind back in control and tipped the blades on the ground. it took a link, put a crack in the main blades and took the tail blades. the main shaft seemed fine, i still need to check the spindal. i love the little guy though lol.

What did you have to do to get your tail to work . I’m starting to think the tail servo and gyro are not the problem . I think its all the tail. Did the new hub work for you ?
