Blade 120 SR Faulty Main Motor after 2 weeks???
Hi,
Let me start off with my background experience. I have practiced on realflight for about 3 months, practiced with my wl v911 for 2 months and I decided to buy the Blade 120 sr about 2 weeks ago from Amazon. I used Imzzaudae beginner settings from the link below and the heli was flying great until today (I have crashed in the past but not today). I have 1 stock battery and 3 lectron batteries. The lectron batteries give me almost 10 mins each of flight time while the stock battery only provides about 5 mins. I'm great at hovering but now the heli hovers and then slowly descends about 2 feet or more in a straight line as if the battery is low even though the timer on my dx6i shows the usual amount of time I normally get for each flight (the red light on the back of the heli is solid red). As a result I have to apply more throttle then usual to keep it hovering ( I have to go 2 or 3 increments past mid stick). And if I set my throttle curve to 0 40 50 75 100 at mid stick the heli is only maybe 4 inches off the ground hovering. The lectron batteries are a week old and I charge them at 1.8v. Could this be the main motor causing this issue? I unplugged the main motor from the 5 in 1 and I also re-binded the heli to no avail. No wires seem to be lose and no strange noises from the heli. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?p=4687429#post4687429 Threads I have checked out: 1. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=295385 2. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=406435 3. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=406435 |

Honestly yours sounds like it flies a lot like mine does. I'm always having to battle the throttle on mine. One of the reasons I kinda dislike this heli.

If you are charging your batts when they get to 1.8 v then you have killed them. Never below 3.8v, fully charged are 4.2v lipos should never drop below 3.7v. Try new batteries and start over. Please read up on lipo charging to protect your new batterys.

Charge at 0.3amp not 1.8. That's what killed them.

Are you charging your batteries in parallel or 1.8A for a single battery? I am experiencing something similar with three brand new batteries. I charged six batteries in parallel, three have been broken in, three were virgin. The brand new ones are acting the way you are explaining even though I'm reading over 4.0 volts per pack when the Heli acts as if the battery is dead. I'm hoping, like you, that I didn't destroy my batteries for good...

Thank you all for the replies. I thought I was subscribed to this posted but didnt notice any emails coming through about responses. I'm charging 3 batteries in parallel at 1.8amps which takes about 50 mins to charge all 3 batteries. Today I received my replacement main motor for my blade 120 sr. I replaced the old motor and I now notice a difference. The heli is flying like it's brand new! I don't have to input extra throttle at all. Now I can hover great without even hitting mid stick like before.

Should I be charging the 3 batteries in parallel at 3.8? Thank you all for your advice!

Pfloyd (and others) for longevity are saying to charge the batteries max at 0.3mAh (300) each.

Check out this Parallel Lipo Charging Page. Tons of info there: http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/paral...-charging.html Hope this helps. |

The rule to charge lipos in the first place is to charge them at 1C that means the mah's they have...
So..the stock lipos need to be charged at 0.5A (500mah) A 600mah need to be charge at 0.6A (600mah) And so on... And remember that i use 4.20minutes on a stock lipo..those small lipos are best to not go below 3.7v or even 3.8v that's storage voltage. That way they will be ready to rock. If you charge any of those 500mah or 600mah at 1.8A, you are saying they are 1800mah for the charger...or that's 3C for the 600mah 3*0.6=1.8A...you could charge that for one in a hurry but not in a daily basis....that will kill them prematurally. Start chargin them at 1C no more. |
