Finally nearing completion of my Trex 500's rebuild, and I can't remember how the weights go on. Can't find the instruction, either. Can someone clue me in? Thanks.

The nut is very firm the first time on.
Nut goes toward boom
The nut needs to just gently snug up on the grip
Always use medium strength thread lock.
Adjust for blade tension as usual.
As long as the self locking nut has a firm drag while being threaded on you may fly immediately.
If after many cycles the self locking grip gets weak, you should wait for the thread lock to cure before flight.
If you re-tap the nut to clean out the threadlock you will destroy the self lock feature.
These will rust! Keep them coated with a light oil or rust preventive

I've also ordered a set for my 250 this week from HJ. I'm thinking with the lower servo load, I can move the ball further out on the servo arm which will give faster response time and with the lower load the servo will happily take it. Anyone tried this on any heli and how did it work?

Great peice of work on the tail mods, thanks.
Is it worth doing whilst still learning to hover?

It wont make any difference in the ease/difficulty of hovering. The performance improvement varies with tail design and will only be noticed by fairly proficient 3d flyers.

Depending on what heli you are flying it can greatly reduce your average tail servo current draw but that also is most noticed in heavy 3d flying.

Wait until you get flying circuits unless you just want some bling.

Not that I'm disagreeing with the main man HJ....but I"m pretty sure your tail servo will last longer if it doesn't have to work as hard. Which is what this mod does...right?
I"d say it's worth the investment for EVERYONE b/c tail servo's are not usually cheap.

I am just trying to avoid being a snake oil salesman.
It does reduce the servo load/temperature which should mean longer life. How much it is reduced depends on the which heli you are talking about. Some have unbelivable pushrod forces and some are not that bad.

Is the tail a fairly close copy of the Trex 450 SEV2 ? If it is that weight will probably work.

Fitted my weights to a 450 and noticed a dramatic speed increase in tail response, turned the gyro down lots. It must free the servo up so it cn respond at almost no load speed.

I recently acquired a Century Swift NX. I put upgraded tail rotor grips on it, which measure approx. 16.3mm outside to outside through the bolt holes. Takes 80mm tail blades. Would Trex 600 weights work?

Rats! Just realized I need to measure the blade grip screws!
