Default Trex 700e vs. Synergy E7

What are the pros and cons between these 2 helicopters? I want to know what you guys think about these helicopters because I'm planning on getting a 700 sized electric. Advice would be nice to.

Thanks

Synergy is direct to servo to swash link, bit lower same lenght, much quieter and lighter, quality is, as you would expect, much much higher with the Synergy, and flies like no other heli.
Align is less expensive, parts are easier to find, is a OK heli to fly, but not as awesome as the E7, many different choices in canopies, can find used here on HF classifieds, what most people fly (until they try a Synergy).

Yes I love my E6 and my E7, so much so that I now fly for Team Synergy.

Good luck on making you choice.

Ya I was planning on getting the Synergy E6/E7 because I heard such great things about the helicopter and company themselves. Has anyone tried the KDE motor for this helicopter to test how it flies with it? I used to be a big fan of Align, but now that I look over at the Synergy helicopters I think I'm going to start becoming a Synergy fan. You guys are doing great keep up the good work!!!

The KDE is a strong, no doubt, except it's very heavy. 495KV is also a little high, will work no problems. What ESC did you want to use with this motor? ESC - motor combo results in different performances.

I have had MANY Align helis along with several other brands and I think this E7 is the best heli I have ever put together. I might not be a big 3D pilot, but this bird inspires a lot of confidence.

I am putting a 500kv motor in the E7 I am tinkering together, I ordered the 13T pinion for it to get the head speed at 2200 governed with an ICE2 120A ESC. Should have plenty of headroom and still be in the more efficient end of the power band.

The KDE motor at 495kv should be good, but if you are running 700mm mains, you will need a smaller pinion than what is supplied.

Ron's Heli South still has the 12t and 13t in stock, I just ordered a set and just got confirmation of shipment 20 minutes later.

I might just get the Hacker; I was just wondering what the difference in performance between Hacker and KDE motor would be on the E7. What do you guys think about putting 2x 6s 5000mAh 65C batteries into the E7 because I will be using those for my Trex 550e.

The Hacker 470KV is 4500 watts max. The KDE 495KV motor is 10,000 watts max. You need to have good 65C batteries to run the KDE hard. This motor is for hard core power users. Most fliers will be very happy with the Hacker with longer run times and it will be much easier on your average 35-45C batteries...

+1 on what stevehof said. I have a Scorpion 4530 LE -- which is rated with similar specs (not sure I trust manufacturer's specs anyway)... and that thing will drain packs and puff cheap lipos in a heartbeat. There's only X amount of mAh in a pack, and double the power consumption if flown very hard = about half the flight time. No way around it.

Re: packs
I have some Thunder Power G6 65C 5000 mAh packs -- I wouldn't recommend them because they're pretty darn heavy. Personally, I only use them for speed flying on a TDR. I prefer 4400 mAh packs because they're of course lighter and you get almost the same amount of flight time as the 5000s (because of the lighter weight). Can't comment on how they'd work on a 550E though.

My *guess* is that you could run slightly lower headspeed with a 4400 pack (vs if you had a 5000 mAh pack on it) and have similar performance and flight time as flying with a 5000 mAh pack.

I have to disagree with Steve and Sheep on this one. They are correct in that you will need good packs with the bigger 10K motors but that is only if you push the helicopter to its limits. Flying style is the major factor in determing what packs you need when running the big motors. If you bang the heli around with a headspeed of 2350 with 14 degrees of pitch then sure you will puff a 25-35c pack but not everyone flies like that. I run a 4525LE in an E7 using inexpensive 4000 mah 25C Gens Ace packs but my style of 3D is what I consider fast and smooth and I manage my collective properly.

Of course! that's why I said: "If flown very hard."

The first "warm up" flight for me when I fly with that 4530 motor (it's on another heli) is always done with a pair of 25/50C nano-tech packs: easy 1400 and 1600 RPM 3D flights. Those packs are as square as they were when I got them (no signs of any swelling), because I'm just taking it easy. And when you're flying at 1400 RPM, you need to apply some semblance of collective management skills.

That said, most people out there will use the power that they have. If you're disciplined enough to hold back and take it easy with a monster motor (and have very good collective management skills) -- that's awesome. I wish I had the discipline.

I've logged over 11KW peaks with that motor, as measured straight from a PowerJive with a JLog2 logger, and I will say that the power can be very, well... intoxicating. With good batteries of course.

I guess I should read more carefully.

Your absolutely right about needing discipline to resist the temptation of using all that power. It is addictive sometimes but 3:00 flights are not much fun. As I Nitro flier that's usually the amount of time it takes me to really get in the groove. I'm trying to balance performance and flight time while keeping my batteries from looking like marshmallows so I use the power in short burst.

What size packs are you running? Mine comes in at 10.5 with 4000's.

Hard to believe sure you got a good scale??? My 700T-Rex with SAME packs is 11.55 LBS man!

Just weighed in a bunch of helis with a Rapala digital fish scale, it is VERY accurate! I also weighed in two other friends t-rex 700s, one at 11.42lbs, other at 11.69lbs so very hard to believe Chris unless you got some 2000mah packs on it, lol!

Shawn, you're right

I weighed it on another scale at my work and it is 11.4lbs. Hard to believe that my fish scale at home is a half pound in the LIGHTER direction ... You'd think for better fish stories it would be on the heavy side

I have this motor but not in my E7 as I thought the kv (520) would be too high for its gearing?

How do you find it and what tc do you run with what head speed??
Cheers

Gearing is perfect with the 13 tooth pinion. The motor pulls the E7 around pretty fast with a headspeed of 2250. I don't use curves as my setup uses set rpm mode in the castle governor.
