Thinking of downgrading...
I'm beating up on my P500 a lot at the moment and was wondering whether changing from the carbon frame, to a plastic frame was straight forward? It could save me a fair bit in crash costs. What are your thoughts?
Current setup is older P500 with CF frame, stretched and FBL head. Otherwise trying to keep to all stock & plastic. (Align DS510M servos, vbar and Graupner ESC)

Just get a Spirit or something else with a rescue feature. It saves my helicopters like once every one or two flights. Easily pays for itself!

Why is this? Is the plastic frame too flexible?

The plastic frame doesn't have the holes for the 3rd bearing y support that you need when running the 14 or 13t pinions with 470 blades.
It's fine to run the stretched tail on the plastic frame with 430mm blades.

Bingo, I haven't flown a stretch yet but 430's are quite nice on my plastic at 2500 rpms

Great answer, totally missed that. Thank you. I guess the most obvious question is; has anyone drilled the holes to make this mod? It looks 'doable', but I'm not sure what the internal width is of the plastic frame. The support brackets looks to be 34.5mm wide.... Would this fit? If it does, it may be worth making a template for drilling the holes.

I have some plastic frames if anyones interested. Just cover the actual cost of shipping and its yours. Not sure if its worth the cost of shipping to the UK though.

I did make a template based on a carbon frame side. Some details here: https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...5&postcount=13

You've also reminded me that I really should update my bio. A few months ago I moved from the UK to Adelaide., South Australia. Quote:
That's awesome. Thank you for the link. I'll follow this up - it seems to be the way to go.
