Default 3D Printing Parts

Has anyone seriously evaluated the cost comparison with 3D printing parts? I watched a piece in 3D printing and the materials seam to be able to be mixed to be quite strong. This may prove useful for the "non-performing" parts at least. Maybe even for gears with the right mixture. I saw that the tolerance is 0.004" (0.1 mm) and the machine will "print" in color. Kind of cool.

Default MakiBox 3D printer for $300

I have recently purchased this printer but it has not shipped yet.

I will start a thread on here as well as on the CNCZone.com when it arrives.
And No, I will not be printing anything that is spinning at 2800 rpm.

I have a home made reprap one. Cost of printing ca. 0,2$ per gram.
Just printed out 450 vertical stabiliser:
Statecznik pionowy do 450-tki - YouTube
"> Statecznik pionowy do 450-tki - YouTube
" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350">

The first one with 1,2mm thickness is too week. For best result I have to print it out with 2,5mm. Weight printed part 6g.

its not just about cost as much as its about customization

unless you get a 300-500.00 printer its hard to justify it if all your going to do is make a few heli parts

There is a real feeling of satisfaction when the part comes off the printer though
