Default New Rules

Decided to go check the F3 rules and, to my surprise, they have changed the rules regarding engine size for fueled helis. There apparently are no longer any restrictions on engine size. This is awesome as I was wanting to go with a 105 for a 700 sized heli but previous versions of the rules only allowed a maximum size of 91 for nitro. The options for 91 sized engines is really limited compared to other sizes.

All I can say is "Oh happy days"

Oh another nitro pilot in F3c ! Good to know. I am also loyal to glow powered birds, i only fly os 91 engines, sxcspec,sz, hz hzr and my best unit a hzr speed 3c.

Problem with 105 is fuel consumption, depending on tank size and time spent to complete a full table can be an issue, take that in mind.

Also fbl allowed

Default Fuel consumption

That was one of my concerns with going with a bigger engine was flight time as I can see performing a basic routine being problematic if you're going through fuel like fiend.

I've been discouraged with the options available for 91 size engines and the prices. I recently had a deal fall through on a Novarossi because the company didn't have the pipe for the engine.

Anywho, thanks for the advice on flight time in regards to engine size. I guess I didn't put too much importance on that over availability.

Default Nitro

There have been NO nitro motors at the last two WCs in F3C. The problem is power. The newer FAI F3C schedules have maneuvers with compound parts that require a lot of power to do the last part symmetrically to the first part. If you take a nitro motor, put it on 30% nitro, tune it to an inch of its life, you get about three horsepower. My 12S electric is 6 1/2 horsepower so I can miss something in the middle of a maneuver and still have enough power to make the second half symmetrical.
Gotta admit, I miss the smoke and smell.
