You can resolve this by.....looking!

Check out the sticky specifically about gear stripping here

The black are the latest, better mesh on the tail set black than on the whites.

I really don't think it matters, team pilots are getting hundreds of flights on white gears once setup right.

There is quite a difference in the mesh between the two sets, black being much tighter. Also, then why did outrage release the black gears. By " set up right" are you referring to the mods in the stickies?

+1
I have yet to strip any gear on my fusion... I don’t fly smack, but I do dabble in 3D as well as a lot of fast knife edge and big air stuff. I was super critical of gear mesh from day one, maybe that's why I was so lucky. I guess that's something that bled over from my RC car days.

My guess... because the black gears are easier to set up.

IMHO... I do not consider these 'mods', these are just normal things you deal with during a build. Molded parts always have their quirks, so sanding some flashing and setting a gear is really just sort of part of building. I think we’re sort of spoiled in the heli market. Plankers would never complain about stuff like this.

With RC cars... this is also more or less the norm.

yeah unless it is a cnc milled part i would always assume there is some checking to be done. like i have mentioned in other threads u cant bash a product for the flaws in a manufacturing process that has nothing to do with the company building the heli. and u really cant even call them flaws its more that the tollerance in that process is just lower

OP, do yourself a favour a take a good look through the sticky posts at the beginning of the Fusion forum, any problems should be solved by reading through them, especially if you are not an "experienced builder" and are not sure what to look for. Also, be careful of tail taps during landings, they can easily weaken your TT gears resulting in gear strips on successive flights after. The Fusion 50 is an awesome heli, you will enjoy it once any quirks are worked out.

No disrespect , but I completely disagree with this statement, it has everything to do with the company selling the heli, if they are putting their name on a product then they should do their absolute best to ensure the end customer is receiving the best product they can. It's called quality control, fortunately Outrage has been proactive in resolving the fore mentioned issues, otherwise they would not have released black main and Tt gear sets or posted possible issues, such as the boom block fixes.

Do you want any bit of backlash with the gear mesh of the rear tail gears?

It's all in Wilson's video (and the photos) in the sticky.

Once again yes I have looked at the sticky before posting but I find myself needing more info. In the sticky the OP states the mesh needs to be spot on and also shows pictures of the mesh. Im trying to figure out what his term of "spot on" is. In the video he also talks about the mesh but he only says that a little play is ok if you sand the brass too far. So Im still trying to figure out what is the perfect mesh for the rear gears. Would it be no backlash or just a little backlash.

If you use the new black gears you shouldn't need to worry about the tail. The white ones seemed to have a lot more lash and that's where Wilson's video helps a lot. Otherwise, there should be some lash between the umbrella and bevel, but like I said, lash is now perfect on the tail with the black gears.

If you read on further i go on to explain the process and why....u are only going to get so much quality out of a molded part. there is always going to be flashing its not a flaw in the part simply extra flashing that isnt always removed.... its always a good thing to be careful when clamping bearings into plastic..

So I finally stripped my bevel gears.... totally my mistake too. Did an auto with the wind and as I was doing the flare a small gust pushed me down and the tail hit hard... Front and rear bevel gears are toast. No big deal... but I guess I'm gonna go back to my white gears and exhaust them before I move bakc to black. Might as well... I didn't have a problem with them to begin with.

Thank for everyone and every opinion......

I feel that, for my F50 shall be fly aerobatic style and if I intend to hard style shall fly by other heli.

Most any 'shim kit' will have the appropriate shims... I actually ground my little brass spacer too much and needed a shim to make it effective again... so I dipped into my shim bag for my RC cars and found a perfect fit. They are not as wide ad the 450 mainshaft shims, so they are a perfect fit.

I can’t seem to find the kit that I got... but it's a basic 'shim kit' for an RC car.... one that contains a verity of different shims and washers. It's an OFNA kit...
