Screwdriver
Is the screwdriver that comes with the eflite birds a 000? It's pretty poor quality and I have gone through quite a few already not to mention stripping quite a few screws in the process. Does anyone know where I can get a quality one by itself? I've found them in sets but I don't really want to pay $20-$40 for the rest of them that I'll never use. Thanks in advance.

even the e-flite driver sets are poor quality.
you can try re tempering a new driver i just get the cheap ones and throw them out when they wear

Do you know if its a 00 or 000? I've found both, but not sure which one to get. They're only $4.99, which seems like a good deal if they're hardened steel

Just my 2 cents, I spent like $9.99 at wal-mart on a 65 piece set that has perfect fitting bits that are good quality.
Its a red case with "Ultra-Tough Ultrasteel" for a brandname I guess. Very happy with the hardness and price of this set.

The screwdriver that comes with the heli is to large for some of the screws.
If you have a Lowes, HD or Harbor Freight they have the small ones also. I'll have to check Wally World that seems like better deal. |

I got a set at Lowes that works great and has all the different sizes ! I think i paid around $14 for it. If you go to or already have other helicopters you will need different ones anyway.

I got one similar from Lowes but with one difference, it has a led light. It really helps to see in some tight spots especially for us old timers....lol !
It uses watch batteries. I also got the lighted tweezers........man it's hell to get old and can't see....lol Here's the links http://www.lowes.com/pd_193247-56005...ver&facetInfo= http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?...llow&cId=PDIO1 Oh, and I'm not trying to one up you RCNet, i just thought the lighted ones might help those that like me have a tough time with things close up or whose lighting isn't the best.

Those Lowes drivers are good as I keep some in each of my field boxes. For my workbench at home I have a couple old Wiha sets based on some suggestions I got here. Mine came from Phils Hobby Shop and they're fantastic. I'll try to post links later.

+1 GREAT screwdriver and the spare tips store in the handle. Quote:
Lastly it's SUPER easy to magnetize the tips so you'll never lose a screw to the floor again.

Trying to replace the main frame, one of the board screws is stripped and doesn't want to come off,
That's the problem with cheap screwdrivers and cheap screws. I'm going to have to sacrifice the new main frame to rescue the board. |

But if he feels he is steady enough, then it wouldn't take much to cut a notch in the screw.

Bought an Eclipse Pro's Kit (Part 800-075) screwdriver set at Frys back in January for about $15, iirc, Works great. Only complaint is that I have to remagnetize them periodically.
And considering this 5 month old noob, they have gotten a lot of mileage.....
