Anyone using the MCPX batt. for MSRX ?

Hi all,

Am sure this is the question been ask more then few times..
Am at work and too little time to do the search.
So please forgive me...

Anyone had any experience using the HY 250mAh or the stock E-flite MCPX batt on MSRX ?

If so, how can I change the MSRX plug to suit the MCPX batt. plug ? what's the name of that plug and anyone know where I can get those plug ?

Please advise.

I just tried it using the mCPx's charging adapter to hook the battery up to the stock wiring. I also used the stock mCPx landing gear. They were a direct fit. It worked and the flight time was a lot longer than stock. However, I don't know exactly how long because the extra weight of the battery made the mSRx so sluggish that it was not much fun to fly.

I would say it works but the added weight is not worth the extended flight time on a stock setup.

Im more of a fan of using the MCPX skids when you squeeze the posts a tiny bit flat they fit perfectly and i use the Hyperion 180mAH cells.

This is about the best setup for the MSRX imo.
Ive tried 240mah Hyperion cells with an Astroids cell holder and its very sluggish, But thats good for indoor flight if your me. 250mAH and larger cells are just too much weight.

For the value and money the MCPX skids and 180mAH cell combo is hard to beat.
The problem with the good 160mAH "M" cells by Hyperion and Thunder Power is they know we want those cells as they fit the stock machine, So many places are selling them at $10 a pop. The setup i mentioned weighs about 1-2 grams more and you get some longer run times and Hyperion grade cells at half the price.

Does the stock msrx wiring connector need to be replaced in order to accomadate the 180mah? Or can I use the same wiring that comes on the circuit board?

I loved the mcpx 200 mah on the msrx, I used the charge cable to connect them.

My flight times damn near doubled and the 200 mah batteries barely even got warm, the stockers would get pretty hot.

I will probably try it out with mine, according to the miniaviation site, the larger ones are only 2.7g heavier which doesn't seem like a whole lot. I have the Xtreme mCPX skids on mine so they would be a direct fit. Their packs also offer higher output so I think it will make up for the weight.

you do not need to change any wiring on the main board. You will only need to make a battery adapter so the micro battery connection of the MSRx can fit the bigger connection of the MCPx.. Or you can cut off the MSRx battery connection and solder on the MCPx battery connection. I'd opt for the adapter since you can run both battery sizes.

eflight 150 mAH 25c battery = 4.3 grams

Lectron pro 300 mAH 35c Battery = 8.0 grams

And my msrx does not seem bogged down with the added weight at all ! In fact it seems more responsive in my opinion (maybe something to do with the C rating ? ) . And flight time more then doubles.

I'm like Liduno. i use the 200mah batteries and also have a couple of 300 nano's I use, and I get great flight times ! The 300 batteries do make it a little more sluggish, but is fine to practice hovering.
The only difference is, instead of using the charge cable, I de-soldered the old wire & connector from the board and re-soldered the new MCPX connector on. I did it to save weight and not have to deal with the extra cable length. But if your not comfortable with soldering, then by all means use the charge cable.

I just pushed the lectron pro 300 mAH 35c to the point of LPC and it had a flight time of 10min 22sec. And was not even warm to the touch. The msrx's motors were steaming but not the battery.

I run the eflight 200's, Nano 300's, and Hyperion 250's on mine and it flies just fine. plenty of power and fast. The only downside I see IS the extended flight time..these crappy motors get hot too damn quick no matter what battery you use.

You can use the adapter that comes with the mcpx charger, any one that sells mcpx parts should have them.

Does anyone know of a step down plug adapter without the wire. Do they make such a thing? This would remove the little extra wire weight.

It requires some soldering skills to make a step down adapter w/o wires out of the MCPx charger cables.. Of which I don't have. I'm trying to get this done with one of the members here that is also repairing my 4n1 board.
