Default New Zenoah Carb Insulator- PLUS Installation Instructions

For those of you who have ever had problems with your carb insulator warping (no matter how carefully it has been installed) there is a new product that will take care of your problem.

The insulator is made by a guy name Johan Bruins and is really the ticket for the Zenoah motors. Most folks that have tried this adapter did so just to try it out...like me. Most had no prior problems and viewed the new insulator as just Bling :glasses2: .

The adapter (insulator) is made from machined aluminum and is sealed using Teflon gaskets. The motor side gasket is indexed into the adapter by a machined lip that holds the gasket into place. These gaskets provide an excellent seal and I can say no leakage occurs at these points now.

The performance difference is amazing to say the least. The motor idles and transitions smoothly, the needles are more predicable and there is no signs of vapor-lock using this adapter. I was quite happy even after the first flight as those little occasional burbles and inconsistencies were GONE!

All signs of any leakage on the intake sides that was just ignored previously are gone (a slight amount of oil residue).

I guess that the stock insulators have always been a problem (that was not realized) even when they were not warped as there had to be some amount of leakage going on. The carb has been suspect, but the real problem really seems to be that the insulator/gasket sealing surfaces have been leaking..

I won't use another Zenoah based motor without using one of these little gems!!

Check them out at: http://www.z-rc.com/

Later!

I'll add it to my list of stuff to get... Tom, you and I will have to talk a lot of shop about Zenoah when I show up at the Precision Fly. Hope you will be ready.

Would these make it easier to break-in and tune a new motor on a Spectra-G for a gasser newbie?

Ordering one anyway, just for the bling factor.

Yes as the needles are easier to "read" since the motor is being fed more reliably and consistently.

I have been in contact with Johan and am trying to iron out a deal to carry his insulators and if things work out i will make them an option on new motors. Peace, Toxic Al

I could do that but , the part is not cheap and i don't want people think I am shoving it down there throats if they don't want it. If every one want these to come stk on the motors then if you guys don't mind give me a pole and I will consider it. Peace, Toxic Al

Just fitted them to my machines , I cant believe the improvement ....... ..

I had one that was leaking , its now as clean as and sounds lots better too ....

the other "wasnt" leaking , but its now sounding nicer , and needed a slight tweak , so it appears to be sealing better too ..
I'm impressed .... and Johan's communications are brilliant too ....

Cant recommmend this product highly enough ....

I have mine but i'm still building my Spectra.

Johan's service is great. I got an email from him saying it was posted (and the tracking number) within hours of placing my order.
It arrived about 4-5 days later.

Quality looks fantastic.

I have spoke with johan and I am putting in a large order and it will be available on my motors. It will be an option at this point so when you order a motor specify you want one and it will be installed prior to shipment. I expect to have them in a week or so. Peace, Toxic Al

How tight should the screws be torqued when installing these?

Do you need to use locktite on the bolts or are the spring washers enough to prevent them from loosening.

Johna has sent me the installation instructions and they should be ready soon if they are not already shipping with the adapters.

Yes, use some lock-tite on the bolts.

John,

I've posted a new thread over in the Spectra-G forum asking which way to install the insulator and carb on a Spectra-G

Do you still use the carbon plate? If yes, where does the Teflon gasket go? between insulator and plate or plate and carb? And do you then still need to use a normal gasket on the other side of the carbon plate?

No. I don't still use the carbon plate on the Spectra-G. Do not use any paper gaskets at all, just use the Teflon gaskets that come with the adapter.

Later,
