well here is an exotic but maybe workable method. You can make seals with pure indium wire. This would work as long as the temperature is well below 313F which is the melting point of pure indium. You just put it where you want the seal and cross the ends over. You could tack it in place with a little high temp RTV or maybe just grease. Indium is very soft and makes vacuum tight gasket seals. It just squishes between the harder metal surfaces. We have used it for years on physics experiments with high vacuum systems. here is some on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10g-Indium-M...item3f2222f587 I'd prefer something a little thicker like 2mm (or about 80 mil)

The plate for my new muffler has this pattern on the surface on both sides.
Remove it or not?

Left mine as they were on both my gassers, would have liked the grinding / machining marks to run the length of the plate but have no access to machining stuff to do it these days. May be better if the plates were machined with some sort of really fine cross-hatch pattern, then it may help to keep the sealer in.

The original RJX plates years ago were not flat and needed to be resurfaced. The new ones do not. Use some Permatex Ultra RTV and you are good to go.

This has come with a new TRM Pipe.
So even though this is not smooth it is Ok? Gasket engine side and sealant the other?

Correct the TRM plate should be flat. Use a thin film of RTV on both sides,

Do you think that I should have had another plate with this muffler then?
This is the only one supplied.

Just to add to the discussion, I now have a few flights with my RMJ Raptor with the stock RJX pipe.
I'm using a regular gasket between the engine and the plate and then no gasket between the plate and the pipe. After the first couple flights I could see some oil coming from between the plate and the pipe and while the engine was hot I got out the allen key and it wasn't loose but was not very tight so it was easy to tighten a bit more which I did. Since then I'm only seeing a tiny bit of oil but I'll keep an eye on it over time, for now it looks OK to me.
