Default Gaui 200 Very low tail gain

I have a Gaui 200FES (Old-style rigid head) with the upgraded tail (from the 255) and am having an issue with the tail. The gain on the tail is only ~25% (on a DX8 so 62.5%), this seems rather low but it holds OK with a very slight (inch or two) flick on a pitch pump, any higher and I get tail wag. With the old 200V2 tail I had (ruined it in a crash) gain was around 75% which seems more in line with the manual.

I was wondering if the gain I have now is ok or if it is indicative of a problem? I do have a very slight ELE wag on an abrupt change (It wags 1-3times before settling down) but I am still using the stock tape (plus a rubber band on tight). Pot 1 is about 1.5marks below 50%. The heli handles well but then my only experience with FBL systems is with Walkera and an mCPx so not the greatest system.

There are some vibrations (I think its the motor, known issue with the stock Gaui unit) but they are not too bad as far as I can tell. I did have a big vibration problem but traced that to a bent screw in the head and a bent tail shaft on my brand new tail unit )

So, do I have an issue, anything I should look for setup wise? Sorry for the essay

a low number in the radio is common on these small birds. mine is something liek 27-28 in the tx. for that tail, I moved my ball in closer on my tail servo. this puts it at 5.5mm out.

I will check the servo ball, I know im not using close to all the throw. Good to know its normal for these helis. They should put a warning in the manual about the small helis mine nearly shook the tail off the first time i spooled it up (tail set to recommended starting point).

My T250 with a 5084 tail servo is also in the mid-20's on a DX8. Not much movement needed. Big thing with these little guys is having head geometry that gives a blue indication when telling it what 6* is. If blue doesnt show up until 7*+, you can (or will) get cyclic bouncing after a sharp input. Turning down the gain to get rid of it will just create a loss of 'locked-in' flight manners. Vibration affecting the Beast usually shows up as a back and forth wander in a hover. A headspeed change to a different speed, stiffening up what you are mounting the Beast to, or using the yellow tape can help. On my T250 a doubling up of the gyro tray with CF and epoxy, along with keeping the headspeed away from 3600-3900 solved that. Might be quite different on the Gaui though, you gotta see what it does. If it doesnt wander, you are ahead of the game thankfully

It hovers dead level, just a slight bounce on ELE reversal (say i transition from FF to backwards just by hammering the stick back the tail bobs up and down slightly a couple of times). 6* cyclic comes in just before blue (blue is about 6.3*) so should be OK.

I think I have found the issue with the tail, the servo ball is ~7.5 mm out, I will move it in a hole (to 5.5mm) and try that, should get rid of the high frequency tail wobble I have.

Moving the tail servo ball in a hole to ~5.5mm seems to have sorted it mostly (very slight shimmy - wags back and forth a bit - during a vertical descent). I may try a slightly closer hole, one of the wheels has one at ~4.5mm to see if that helps.

Assuming the weather cooperates, its hard to check for tail wag in 20kph+ winds .
