We seem to be having quite a few issues so how about putting them all in one place? It could make it easier to find information and make a good resource.

Default Tail Issues Modifications General Tail Chat

Good idea ! I am a bit dissatisfied with the tail ATM, at neutral position of around 8' of right rudder, the slider is way off centre thus limiting amount of right rudder. I think this May be a factor in occasional tail blowout. I am going to try shortening the slider-grip ball links to give a bit more right rudder and enable tail blade track adjustment.

I found 4-6 degrees pretty good at neutral, 8 may be a tad high.

Fair enough, but there does seem a large inequality in movement for the slider, my HC end stops are around 20 different!

I found a little trick, the tail hub can slide up and down the tail shaft a bit by loosening the grub screw. This can allow some adjustment of the tail pitch neutral and end points. I don't worry about the numbers so much these days. I fly it and see, more of a practical approach. Less headache and not run into issues....so far

Well its a beautiful day and I thought I'd get a few flights in this afternoon.

Spooled up, hovered, punched the collective and BAMM!! out of control piro,
Got it down with no damage.
The rod must have cracked during transit. Oh well. No harm done. I have spare rods at home. I'll put a brass sleeve over the end this time.

Good save! I think some sort of support to the CF helpful as the fibres in the rod poorly resistant to lateral movement. I might try whipping, like on the old fashioned fishing rods

For tail control pushrods I always use the central hobbies inserts and also bond a brass or aluminum tube over the outside at the ends to prevent splitting of the tube.

Another option that looks good but I haven't tried yet is the new Mikado tail control pushrod ends, they bond over the outside of the tube rather than the inside.

I confirmed part number 441 "FBLROTORS Titanium rod ends with links for tail control rod" is for a 4mm carbon rod with a link that has a 3mm thread.

Hmm, tail options? Should that include the new RcTek tri rotor tail assy I am field testing? Or the Kbdd dual slider control I am fitting into my Triabolo?

We should sticky the tail setup posts - e.g. the one Gerd did on the hanging method, plus other useful posts on tension and setup. There are also some good posts on the tail control rod too.

Absolutely
Any modifications from anywhere would be good to see.

Maybe they could be merged into here?

Exactly - I think a lot of that discussion is in the 'what did you do with' thread but there are a couple of other sources.

Here is what I have come up with to strengthen the end of the CF push rod, not too different from the Brass insert from a tail rotor. Its from a connector. I drilled through the top and cut away the extra brass to make a flat surface and this left me with a nice end that covers the cut end of the CF rod as well.
