Default DX6I & DX5e Buddy connector

I am planning to use a DX6i as a master and a DX5e as the slave. I have not found any information on the connector setup.

It looks like I could make my own using two male stereo, three connector, headset plugs. Or is this a standard cable I could buy at the Source.

If I was to make my own, would I be correct to assume the connection goes straight through. IE the same part on each plug is attached. Or do they do anything silly like have one part on the slave plug connected to another part on the master plug.

Thanks

You want a mono cable, not stereo. The spektrum cable is only $12 at the LHS and just connects between the two, one port to the other - the manual explains this - but if you want a custom cable (longer for example) you can just find a mono headphone style cable.

It's very straight forward, just plug the radios in to one another directly. The slave radio (dx5e) will remain off and when you plug the cable in, it will turn on.

There might be other steps for setting up the trainer on the DX6i to make it the master, it's been a few years since I've done it.

Thanks, I was going by the plug that came with Phoenix. It has a 3 section plug, aka a stereo plug.

I'll check the next time I'm at the LHS. I looked online but couldn't find one, but they should know.

Thanks,

This is the one made by Spektrum;

I'd think any hobby shop that sells spektrum will carry it.
