Default HK-4035-530 Question

Hi all,
I have a Scorpion HK-4035-530 that I have in my Compass 7HV and am wondering EXACTLY how many poles are in this motor?
A friend of mine has told me all Scorpions have 10 poles in them. I see on the Scorpion website under the discontinued motor section that it shows 8, that being said what would happen to the motor if I run it at 10 poles vs the 8 like it's supposed to be within the HV2 Ice 120 Castle.

Thanks

That motor has 8 poles. If you put the wrong number of poles in the ESC the Gov will not work as expected.

If you tell the Castle software that you have 10 poles it will use this to calculate what head speed you're requesting. If you ask for 2000 rpm for example you will not get it if you have the wrong pole count.

as far I know it has 10 poles, just count the magnets, I know old 400 kv had 8 new hk3 10 p but I've looked at some of the old 4035.s that had 10

bobloblaw was correct, and I verified by counting them, the older style HK-4035-530 only has 8 magnets and the newer HKIII-4035-530 has 10 and is a slightly more efficent running motor.
Thanks
