Default WHat greases/oils do you guys use and where?

So the title is my main question but I have one specific question about this. On the thrust bearings a lot of people seem to go with White Lithium Grease or something equal to it which is what I bought and was planning to use until I started reading and thinking. Is it ok to use white lithium grease on the thrust bearings when the main blade holder pieces are are plastic? I would assume that it would be ok to let a small amount get on them but I figure I'd better check... everything else like dampeners I plan to get some synthetic stuff and use that.

It's better to use something thicker than lithium on thrust bearings. I have been using the Hudy premium grease on the mini for a long time, mainly because it comes in this little box and I don't have to lug a bucket of grease in my flight case. It's on the expensive side, so when I run out, I will fill it with some sort of thick synthetic stuff for auto industry.

Generally...
- Thick synthetic grease for thrust bearings. You want thick, so that it doesn't come flying out when you spool up. Oil based grease can be used too, because the Mini grips are made of carbon/plastic composite. Just be careful not to get it on dampeners.
- Silicone grease on dampeners. Not really necessary, but you will get a bit longer life time out of them.
- Silicone grease on belt. Same as dampeners, not actually necessary. You could use graphite too, but it's kind of messy and since we are not concerned with static on the Mini, graphite isn't the right stuff for this application. I have been sort of lazy to grease my belt this year and haven't felt the difference.

I put a thin film of TriFlow synthetic oil on my tail shaft every 30-50 flights to make my slider really butter smooth..well, kind of extremely smooth, the V-Bar seems to like it.

BTW, lithium grease is plastic-safe, as well as barium, teflon and specific variants of silicone. Mineral/ vegetable oil and glycerin based greases are dangerous.

  • Associated black grease on thrust bearings (thick stuff, probably petroleum based).
  • Silicone grease on dampers, ran them dry too, didn't notice a difference tbh.
  • Silicone grease on the one-way bearing, be modest here, don't drown it.
  • Tri-Flow oil on the tail pitch slider (used Tri-Flow dry lubricant here before, only to find the it getting sticky over time, binding the slider).
  • Sometimes I put a bit of Tri-Flow oil on the main shaft near the swash too (but not on the swash ball, I leave that dry).
  • Nothing on ball bearings, unless you like to keep on lubricating them. Any oil you use here will wash the grease out, screwing up the bearing, unless you keep it wet with oil. So basically, don't touch the ball bearings.
  • When I install a new belt, I spray it with silicone spray and let it dry overnight prior installing. After that I don't lubricate it again, but that's more or less laziness since I don't want to spray all over my heli and cba to apply it differently lol.

got some silicone grease to just dap on the dampeners and shaft to help it slide through the head. Happy there isn't much to grease and keep on on greasing as I was just doing a lot of reading about how people were very touchy about this a year or two ago.
thanks for the tips/help
