Head dampeners - longevity?
Hey guys, quick question. What's the normal lifespan of these things? I have the blue ones, and a few weeks back I was doing some maintenance and noticed that they had become exceedingly squishy. I had only sprayed them with silicon (rather than petroleum) to keep them from drying out, but they were still breaking down, and had probably passed the point of efficacy. I put the new ones in there. They are cheap, so no real problem replacing, but I am wondering if any of you know about how often these things should be changed.
Thanks! |

Well, I put 220 flights on my Blade 450 3D head before converting to FBL and didn't notice any problems with the dampeners. I then put on a Tarot head and currently have 256 trouble free flights on it.
I have read that some people replace them every 50 or so flights. To me that seems like a lot?

I don't keep up with the number of flights, but I got about 4 months out of 1set, so that certainly isn't bad. Thanks for getting back to me..

So did you notice an improvement when you put the new dampeners in?
I just looked at my B450 with the Tarot head and there isn't even a little bit of squish to it.

Does the Tarot head use the same dampeners, or does it come with some that are Tarot-specific? |

yeah when I was using the black dampeners they definitely give up the ghost regularly. Now with the blue ones they last much longer but on my last head build I could see that they were needing to be replaced soon. I cant give you a time though but I am happy with the reliability of the blue ones. the black ones were often needing to be changed.

What material are the blue ones made out of? I have been playing around with different materials to see what holds up well without being too firm.
