Default JR Vibe 500E 3D Pro Build + Review + Log

Hi all,

As promised I will do a complete build with pictures and notes. First of all Thanks to Helidirect for honoring the price of my Kit. I would have never bought this for $700.

Now to the review of the first couple of steps. I finally got my kit on Friday morning. Boy it was like Christmas and Santa was wearing Green (FedEx Ground).
Anyways I started to open the Box and take a look at the Parts Bag which are numbered according to the build Manual and very nicely packed. So I took some pictures of this process. This it for now. I will keep you guys posted.

Thanks gorgin4325,
Lets Start with Step one. I will be installing the JR DS3517MG for Cyclic, so you need to put in the Mini Servo Adapters for the Servos. After that the guide roller for the Belt will be installed. When opening the Screw Bag make sure you sort the screws by size and actually measure the screws. The pictures on the Manual are not 100% to scale for the screws.

I have to say the quality is the best I have seen so far. I love JR Helis

Here are more pictures. More to come.....

Hi kkent25,
Trust me you want to build one of this. Wow every time i screw something together or open a bag and just hold it in my hands I'm thinking why I never bought a JR. I know why because of the price but I must tell you it is sooooooooo worth it. Anyways here are more pictures with the next steps.

I got the kit from eBay and HD was the seller. They had it on sale for 559.99 and I used Microsoft live search rebate and the final price was 508 shipped. not bad.

Yep! hat's the problem: you have to buy it to be able to understand... But since you think it's too expensive, you never buy it. Vicious circle.

Keep it coming and enjoy!

I do have a Vibe 50 so it's not like I have not built JR before. But seriously, $700US for this model is a little over the top! Since you guys have the 500e perhaps you can shed some light on why this thing is worth more than a Vibe 50 kit?? Maybe I just don't get it? Help me to understand!

It's not worth more then a Vibe 50 kit. JR/Horizon have purposely priced the 50 to be competitive in the market to gain marketshare with a main stream heli that they can sell in volume. The 500e and the 90 are too small of a market for them to take the loss on. Basically the Vibe 50 is a loss leader. They get you on parts, radio, etc. The 500 and 90 are being sold at more realistic margins. The dollar is sucking against the yen now. Notice how the JR Servos have gone up the past year?

I can see that would be true for the 90, but considering the number of trex 500's out there not to mention all the other 500 class kits on the market I would think they could potentially sell a lot of these if priced competitively. Then sell a ton of replacement parts. But heck, what do I know. Perhaps this whole price thing has been discussed enough here. Guess I'll just stick with the Vibe 50 and stay away from the 500E. If/when the price drops I will revisit the possibility of picking one up.

I think they are missing out on a lot of sales because I for one would buy one hands down I have a vibe 50 and a Trex 500 and would sell or gut the t500 if the vibe 500e wasn't so expensive . For people who don't know there is a difference in quality for sure but for people like me price counts too !!

I can not compare the 500E to a Vibe 50 since I don't have one, but I can compare it to Aligns Products (600ESP, 450SE V2, 250). I build them all and they are not as nice as the 500E. The closest I have that came to the 500E is my MA Furion 450 in quality and construction. As for spending $700 on a 500E I totally agree with you that it is very high. I got mine for $508 shipped so that is why I'm lucky to own one.
