Default Will a O.S. .46 work to swing 600mm blades?

ok so i got a hirobo .50..... it has a O.S. .46 motor in it and I'm having a hell of a time getting this thing tuned. i think the low end is good. New to nitro so i really don't know. I can punch the throttle and it doesn't bog down.

My question is am i straining the motor to much trying to push these 600mm blades? Iam only running 7+/- pitch and where it seems to run the best with lots of power it will over heat in like 2 min or less of flight. S so i ritchen it up a few turns and it just a turd with barely any power.

question 1: should I get 30% fuel as iv been running 15% will this help?

question 2: should i get 550mm blades and tone down the throttle curve?

It's hard to give advice without being there, but going with 30% and 550mm blades sounds like a good start. Blades being 1st. My Sceadu has an OS .50 hyper and I swing 600s. At 11 degrees pitch, she is maxxed-out so it's safe to say you need 550s.

Are all the bearings smooth, and is the belt the right tension? Also, is the motor's exterior clean? A dirty motor will not cool as well...adding to a power loss and over-heating...

Do you know if the OS46 is a heli engine? OS heli engines (vs. airplane engines) have bigger cooling fins on the head and carburetors that tune better in the mid-range.

I used to have a Raptor 30 "stretch" with an OS32 (later a TT39) and "600" blades and it worked OK, other than being low on power all the time. It was better for autos though.

I would say 550 blades are to small for a 46. A 30 size runs 550mm with no problems

If he's over heating, blades would be cheaper than a new motor just to see. Maybe the motor is tired. I think you meant "A 30 size runs 550mm with no POWER". Even my 50 hyper with a hitori pipe and radix blades feels week compared to some of the electrics I'v flown...and it's a new motor and mint condition heli. I can't get over the E-powered helis these days. But my Hirobo is the best flying heli I'v ever flown hand down.

It is the heli motor I put 30% in it and up the pitch to 10 seems good
