I just got my Savvies Screen protector specifically for the DS-16. The upper beveled corners are off by a couple degrees but it is otherwise a perfect fit. It was $5.95 on Amazon.

I have a couple pair of non-polarized sunglasses that seem to do well.

Of course they do, since they are not polarised

Believe it or not I'm aware of that.

I have both linear and circular polarizer filters for my video and camera equipment and I understand the science behind them.

That's the ticket, I am ordering it, apparently it reduces the polarizing effect of sunglasses by 70%
I have received my screen protector and I must say I am pleased. It does not eliminate the polarizing effect totally but it definitely reduces it to a point where you can still read the screen with polarized glasses. Not a black blank screen anymore.

Seems it was easier to put on too, I am never too good with these. May be it is practice but I did not scrap any this time so I have a few spare now. You get one free if you order 3 if I recall.

Installed mine and noticed that even with my polarzed sunglasses I can see the screen (a bit dark but at least visible now).

So is there a known US distributor that has these with the right size?

They are listed on Amazon but they shipped in a small white envelope from Germany. Very quick delivery; good price. Superior product to the more rubbery material (polyurethane) that I posted earlier (modified from an iPad protector). These are excellent and actually appear to have an anti-reflection coating on the front surface. Good fit.

Highly recommend! Thanks to Puttputt for posting the info!

Digging up an old thread.

I swear by polarized sunglasses. And the screen really is difficult to use with any of my glasses on.

Any other solutions to this problem? Can't the screen mfg change the orientation of the polarizing film placed on the screen? this is what other devices I've worked with have done.

I had the screen protector and it didn't help with glasses on.

Different stroke for different folks. The screen did help for me, see my post above. It is not as good as without sunglasses but still better than without the screen. I use Maui Jim sunglasses.

The more I use the radio, the more I see this as a none issue in the long run as I never look at my screen anymore when in flight.

The telemetry and some voice activated info with some switches takes care of my in flight needs. Basically the screen is obsolete and a distraction when flying.

On the ground well if I want a better look I just lift my sunglasses since my hands are free to do it.

Agreed, and I hope Jeti does rotate the screen polarization in the upcoming DC/DS 24 models. A 45 degree screen polarization would make the screen visible for the vast majority of users regardless of what kind of sunglasses they were wearing (vertically or horizontally polarized.)

As far as the current DC/DS-16... adding the Vikuiti screen protector helps some, but it's still difficult to read through polarized sunglasses.

The best option I see for the DC/DS-16 is to put a true quarter wave retarder film on the screen as Brent talked about several posts back; that would make it visible at ~50% brightness through polarized sunglasses. Unfortunately I don't know of any pre-cut options on the market, but you could buy some quarter wave retarder film and do it yourself.
