It is too retain the shaft in it position in the motor can. With most helis using a slant gear the motor pinion has a downward force on it. With the screw the shaft cannot shift at all.

Hmmm.....that was the answer I got when I asked scorpion people in the know. Is there a washer missing? My motors always come with a washer. Maybe the screw by itself is too small.
Is it an older motor? I had seen in the past that they sometimes came with and without the screw and washer. |

Something is telling me it's for an optional fan.
