Default New firmware. V202

So heads up, there's a new firmware.

For "the rare (comical) elevator bounce." GO, download it and try it while I sit at work. Tell me how it is, specifically for the guys with bounce.

Haven't had a chance to get it yet, but saw on the web site "includes tandem heli mixer option". Anyone know what that is?

I had the same thought when I saw it. pm'd Danny about it also. I'll post when I hear back.

I wondered if it was for something like a scale CH-46

Vario is re-releasing their CH-46. They were finally able to find a reliable FBL tandem mixing system with assistance from BD using one of their units.

Just took the Goblin 630 for a flight with v202 and the elevator bounce is completely gone; rock hard stops.

Did you have to make any changes to your setup? I didn't have the elevator bounce (definitely not flying hard enough) but wanted to update the firmware anyway

Nope, loaded the new firmware, verified none of the setting changed and servos moved in the correct direction and took off.

Thank you for the update! In regards to rescue, did something change with the new release? In the past I noticed that after some hard 3d that the rescue would go up at an angle and with the new release no matter how much I beat on it, it always goes straight up. I never use it anymore except just to check if it's working and am just curious.

Sounds like this solved many issues.

I don't suppose Captron would publish a bug fix report like they used? It would be nice to know what was changed other than the elevator filter.

This is great to hear. I'd have the same issue after about 10 secs of continuous tic tocs. If I'd then fly circuits it would correct itself.

You can't publish a bug fix if you never acknowledge that a bug exists in the first place.

I'm not trying to be rude, but BD literally just weeks ago first admitted that there was a problem with ELE bounce. Before that they never acknowledged it.

back before they were Bavarian Demon, they used to have a downloadable "change log" on the helicommand version of the website. They seemed to have moved away from that as the change log was no longer available. For me, I just think its is nice to know what changes were made so I know where to look for differences.

I know you are coming from a tweaked perspective being unhappy at this point. I am not sure I'd call the elevator thing a bug. Back when the software would not show some of the sliders, that was a bug. The elevator thing, I'd call more of an incremental modification. Knowing a little bit about control loop theory, I imagine it is no simple task to implement a real time control loop as must exist inside any FBL controller. Me, I never had a major elevator bounce problem and I don't know why some people seem to see it and some don't.

Anyway, a change log would be nice.

What are the thoughts of the new firmware in flight?

I ran it today. Worked great for me. I can't be more specific because the previous version was working ok too. I didn't change any settings.

I updated the firmware on my hc3sx from beta 123 to v202 yesterday. This required me to update my software to v6.5. As the instructions suggested, I doubled my current Elevator filter from 2 to 4. Otherwise, I kept all other setting the same.

Today I flew a couple of packs on my TT x50e. Overall, I thought the flight performance was ~ the same as my v123 firmware (= already very good). I also noticed that my forward and back flips seemed a bit more solid today (less elev bounce thanks to the firmware or maybe just better col. management?).

The only thing I noticed significantly different was that the rescue (CR w/col. pitch) seemed a bit more consistent. Even after a number of hard collective moves CR gave a nice level climb-out.

Before, I would get ~10-20 deg tilt (always right tilt btw) after a number of hard col. moves. No big deal since it still put the heli into a recoverable position.

Still kinda early days but so far I think the new v202 firmware rocks!

Cheers,
TomC
