Default What did you do with your TDR 2/TDS today?

I thought although a thread like this exist already that it would be nice to have a seperate one for the new kid on the block: TDR 2 and eventually TDS.
If not then use the old one if you like.

What did I do? I finally got some batteries for mine: Thunder Power 4400mAh Magna 70C Li-Poly Battery Packs

The last four at Esprit model since I just received a nice labour day rebate of 25%. So I got me one free one out of the four

Stared longingly at it and contemplated ordering the replacement parts it needs after the canopy tried to escape through the blades.

It's really not that bad mechanically (basically just the canopy), I've just been dreading checking the kosmik after it shorted the motor terminals across the servo support.

Was your install as in the picture shown here?
https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...94&postcount=7

Do you think it would have been less likely with this install?
https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...84&postcount=6

Just asking because I am still debating which to use.

Roughly the first pic. I'd recommend having something insulating the back of the mounting lugs and strapping the kosmik down (instead of relying on the canopy to hold it down).

Sorry to hear, but that is EXACTLY why i used spacers on my Kosmik to ensure shorting could NOT happen.
Hope you fix her up soon, very sad indeed.
I personally don't care WHO said WHAT about mounting the ESC, if you use spacers it can NOT happen.

Found the pic... Not sure spacers would have helped here? I'd be happy to be wrong, though, so I could make it safer.

Looking at that they wouldn't, but better to be safe than sorry as just that heat shrink between the connectors is a sure potential ISSUE area.

I did it this way. Sorry for the bad iPad picture.

This is a plastic tube, used in our walls for the electrical 230 v wires.

You may destroy your Kosmik, it will shorten since it will hit the aluminum brace, when it loosens. My first Kosmik did that, the output board shortened in a crash.

Now nothing happens, I crashed and nothing happened....

The tie wrap holds on to what to hold your tube in place?

The tie wrap holds on the wire, no need for more.
I can take a picture of the plastic tube off, later today. I know it's not fancy looking, but the tube does it job and that is important for me. Since the Kosmik is to expensive to change again, one time is enough for me.

Thanks. I was not putting your work down at all, I was just wondering how you made it hold.
Low tech solutions are always best, I will be looking for a suitable tube.

Dont feel bad guys, I had probably the worst short...basically I was putting the canopy on before flight (flight no 3) and some how my lanyard got stuck in side the canopy and the metal TX fastener touched the positive and negative pole...Quite some fire I tell you.

Yes and before any one say but why no heat shrink...I dont know either...just slipped my mind. Obviously I guess I was excited to get this bird in the sky.

This was a couple of months back, all good now and a expensive learning / stupid curve....So now All connections are heavily heat shrinked

Officially started speed training. So far I'm working on getting my TDR2 very high and far away and keeping it centered about 25ft off the ground down the runway. I'm succeeding on the far and away. I completely lost sight of it for a short period at one point, but It's coming. I just need a lot more practice. I feel like this heli is carved out of rock. It just feels so solid and flies so well. I don't worry about it holding up to my training at all

My helis going home safely after a fun day at the airfield.
