flips and loops on a 450 or 600 ?

ive been doing flips and loops now on my 450 , which is easier the 450 or the 600 ?
and how hard is tic tocs ? ive been doing it on the sim for a while now , but pretty scared doing it on the 450..

Flips and loops are MUCH easier to do on the 600. It has more hang time and therefore require less collective input to do them with out loosing altitude. The only thing that might make them harder on a 600 is if you crash, it will cost more. So the "pucker factor" may be higher. But after you do a few and realize how much easier they are, that goes away.

Also, Tic Tocs are soooooo much easier on the 600 because it is slower and bigger making it easier to see what you are doing and what needs correcting.

great post..I am in the same boat. I can flip the 450 but have been scared to do it on my 600 in fear that it will just fall out of the sky...lol. The price for failure is very high but I think I'll give her a try this weekend.

Since the 600 is soo much bigger, you can fly it higher. So when you try something new, you take it up nice and high. Then if anything goes wrong you have plenty of time to fix it. Soo, I have never crashed my 600 in well over 150 flights. And it is more stable and has more hang time. Which to me translates into what I call "forgiveness". if I make a mistake on the 450, I am eating dirt! But the 600 gives me time to correct my mistake and try again. I have seen the guys with the nitros and experienced for myself that even in a mechanical failure, you can auto the bigger birds easier. So there really should be less fear of crashing. I try stuff on my 600 that I am afraid to try on my 450. But I know when I do put it in, it will probably be over $200. But if I get over 200 flights that would be only $1 per flight. Which is about what my 450 costs me in amortized crashes.

thanks for the reply guys.. so what head speed should my 600 be on for a smooth and easy flip , i have a nitro and im making it a bit rich with a no.8 glow plug..i can lean it a bit to get more power.. but i have no idea what head speed should i set it up with.

I have seen people running anywhere from 1900 to 2400. I hear that 2000 is a nice conservative number. I run something around 2350 but you do not need that much. And I am only familiar with electric. So it may be different for nitro.

i do have an electric 600 too but just crashed it last week and still repairing it..so i thought about testing it with the nitro...

But back on topic:
I have a 550 and it flips/rolls slower than my 450 but has a ton more blade authority. I find that the 550 takes a bit more finesse on the collective than the 450 to do a tight flip or roll. I could probably change that if I dial in more cyclic on the 550 but I have quite abit now.

thanks guys.. ive done it today on the 600N , its a bit slower than the 450 but after a couple of flips i get the feel of it..

ok.. i did it also on my 600E , but its veryyyyyyyy slow.. i mean around 3-4 seconds for a complete flip !
on the 450 the whole flip takes around 1 second.
is that how a 600 should reacts to a flip.. i see all the pro's videos they flip the 600 and 700 pretty damn fast...
how can i make my 600e flip faster.?

Add in more Cyclic swash mix (Aileron and Elevator) Just make sure the Elevator and Aileron pitch is equal.

Ha ha, made the mistake a while back of commenting at the field that I never crash my 600 then next flight had an aileron servo give out while doing low flips. Needless to say there were bits of 600 all over the place after the crash.

Also make sure you don't have binding at full throw, when the swash is at the top or bottom of travel.

You can also play with head speed, lighter or bigger paddles, and different main blades.
