Dude that blows, I hate reading stories like this because I know how I would feel if I came home and saw that all of my helis were stolen.. Are you a ama member? If you are I think that you are covered up to 1000 if someone breaks into your house or car and steal your helis/planes..

Theft, home invasions etc are all up.

We have been swamped with folks coming to the house either selling something, or looking for work. I don't think any of them had bad intensions, it's just a sign of the times.

We don't normally have anyone out here in the country.

Be-careful out there folks.

Bummer dude!

I dislike theives very much!

I've been ripped off in the past, for tools. Not a good feeling.

I guess that brings up a good point. It's going to be hard to prove they are if fact your choppers unless you have receipts, serial numbers, etc. Does your rx have a serial number on it? If you have a reciept for it, that might be enough proof. Like stated above, put out an APB at your LHS's and see if something will turn up.

Maybe we should find a secret place on the choppers to serialize them and take photos of them so you can prove them to be yours in case someone decides to rip you off.

You must have some pictures of them? Did they get anything else? If not, sounds like someone knew what they were looking for.................hmm

Would our Heli's be covered under house Insurance? I have Never given much thought to getting ripped off I have 8-10 planes & 5 Heli's out in the garage + all my tools & many radio's + thousands worth of parts... Do you think I would need extra Insurance for this stuff or would I be covered??

Home insurance usuAlly covers home replacements and very little for items inside. You would have to have to cover it separately. Not cheap either

One of the guys at my club had all his helis stolen from home (Trex 600N, Trex 450, Raptor 90 and a Protos). 12 monthst later a new 2nd hand RC shop opened in town and one of the guys at the club turned up with a Raptor 90 he had bought cheap there. Guess what, it was the stolen one and not a thing on it had been changed. Police recovered another 2 of his helis from the shop. Of course by then he had already replaced most of his stolen helis with new ones.

Mate, I feel for ya. It would really suck big time to have your helis pinched by some low life theiving scum.

Hope you get em back.

Actually the insurance is not that expensive. Contact your local agent that handles your home or renters insurance and ask about the rates for a personal articles policy. Price is based on the replacement cost but will cover almost anything that happens to your heli. You will need receipts to document the heli and all your expensive parts; gyro, servos etc. If you have a loss you will be paid full cost to replace all of it. You may be surprised to see how little the rates are.

Sorry to hear it man, I bet it makes you want to do bad things to "them".

This won't help you but, for the rest of us yet to be victimized... don't the Align carbon frames and swash have some numbers on them?

I admit I never looked twice at them but... Are they just part #s or some type of serial #?

Ya, well, I am going to try and scrape 100 bucks together for some electronics. I still have my RDS 8000 thank fully, and a new exi frame. Just need a motor, esc, and gyro. Thankfully, which I had forgotin, I pulled my RDS rx out of my EXI and was running it in my boat. So, they just got a futaba rx in one of them, but not the tx, and no rx or tx to the other one. Could have been worse, thats for sure.

Sorry to hear what happened to you man.

AMA will cover a lot of the loss if you're a member. It's worth every penny. Two and a half million bucks worth of liability coverage, $25,000 in medical coverage in case of an accident, plus fire, theft, and vandalism coverage on top of that. And a decent magazine in the mail too. It's a GIANT bargain and worthy cause for less than $60 a year.

https://www.modelaircraft.org/joinrenew.aspx

Not only that, they represent our interests very effectively as a political lobby and liaison to the FAA.

Give them a call if you're a member. You'll at least get back enough to replace a lot of what was stolen.

Nope. Quoting from the AMA Membership Manual 2009:

=====
Fire, Vandalism, and Theft Coverage (Effective January 1, 2009)

• Provides up to $1,000 for loss of aircraft models and accessories, including RC equipment. All theft loss claims must be accompanied by a police report. NOTE: Theft has to occur from a locked vehicle or residential dwelling. There must be physical evidence of violent forcible entry.

• Has a $100 deductible.

• Is “excess” to any other applicable coverage, such as homeowner’s.

=====

In fact, you're covered for liability and medical costs due to an injury too if you fly in a park or other unsanctioned place like your back yard as long as you're following the AMA's written safety rule set, which basically comes down to not flying over people or doing other stupid things.
