Question MIP Thorp equivalent screwdrivers recommendations?

Can someone recommend some high quality screwdrivers for small, 450-heli-size screws? (The screwdriver equivalent of MIP Throp wrenches would be nice.) I'm tired of my crummy cheapie screwdrivers and the damage that they're doing...

Thanks!

I've read others talk about Scorpion, Losi, Hudy, Wiha, Wera as other top brands. Everyone has their own personal preference.

MIP does make hex drivers. Personally though, I find the handles too small for me. I prefer my Hudy drivers. They are excellent quality but not cheap though

To be clear, I'm only asking about Phillips and straight-slot screwdrivers. Thanks for the Hudy suggestion.

Understood about individual preferences. In situations like this, however, there's often one or two brands that many agree on as the best (like the MIP Thorp, which is why I mentioned them). That's what I'm looking for: high quality, really hard steel, professional-type screwdrivers.

Wiha are very good and affordable

Home Depot sells a Husky small multi-bit screw driver that defies the price. It has some of the better fitting, longer wearing bits I have found. The Wiha's are still around for tight areas, but I prefer the handle and flexibility of the Husky.

Professional means MIP, really. It has professional design written all over.
Have a M3 hex scorpion, like it but not that well designed, they roll too easy on a flat surface.

But they don't make screwdrivers, unfortunately.

Moody has JIS screwdrivers on Amazon.
I bought these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001X0SK8

JIS is good: http://cbr250.com/forums/general-mot...ewdrivers.html

I think part of your problem is the fact that you are using a phillips head on a JIS screw.

Go with the moodys.

Here's an explanation of the difference between JIS and standard Phillips.

+3 on the Moody's if they are Jis. I bought a JIS set for my MCPX mods and they are great.

To be honest, another option might simply be to replace the Phillips/JIS screws with hex head screws? I don't think I have any Phillips/JIS screws on my 450 Pro. There were a few when I bought it, I replaced them with hex heads.

You can buy hex head screws at places like Fastenal (might be one near you), or McMaster-Carr. Prices at industrial-supply places will be much cheaper than buying them from hobby sources.

Most on my 450 are button head cap screws; I've started changing some to socket head cap screws, due to the deeper head which provides more driver engagement.

Quite frankly, if you work on Heli's with asian parts/manufacturing nothing compares to these by a mile as they are JIS standard; almost no other drivers are.

Thanks for the Moody recommendation. Been meaning to pick up a set of JIS drivers for a while.

"Equivalent" MIP Thorp drivers?

No such thing exists ... there is only one MIP Thorp
