I'm not sure on what HS I'll end up with yet. Still tweaking it with my BeastX, and had to ship my hub to my local hobbyshop for replacement. It was not 100% perfect and caused vibrations. And since I have already disassembled my head I thought of this with the dampers..Thank you guys for you input!

Default it's nutz!!!!!!

have been a bit flat out lately and very time poor but finally have managed to wake the new Hyperion EX packs up on the FBL X5.

Ummm words to describe.... umm....... crazy, angry, stupidly powerful, wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
too much for me at 100%. I'm not really one to admit this, but really is too much heli and power at those settings. Maybe more experienced guys would relish them.

So after that first flight change of underwear flight, i sat down with the laptop and put her in Gov mode. Dropped HS to 2500, gave a little more expo in the vbar,a touch more gain and fraction less agility(will have to recheck and post settings).
With hands trembling and petrified of the monster i just flew before, spooled up and popped into hover. It sounded slow(used to both X5's at 100%) but boy was it nice to fly.
My first proper tic-toks, huge loops, flips, tail slides , blah blah. Still awesomely quick when called for, but without that i'm going to tear a hole in the sky (and your pants) attitude Tic-toks were effortless . No bogging or HS drop at all.
Batt.ESC, motor all nice and cool even though it was quite a warm arvo.
Still have to see mah usage but the 4min 100% flight only took a whopping 2000mah, so am a very very very very happy camper.

To say i'm loving this heli is an understatement. OK i finally agree FBL rocks
I'm trying to find a disadvantage but can't at the mo.

OH yes i can,,, i have 4 other helis that have flybars!!!!

Vas

The EX 4200's? Compared to what other packs you are running?
I think I will be pulling the trigger on the X5 FBL version and use the Mini Bluline 5.0 Pro from my trex 450 pro.

rotaryguy, my FBL has only had the EX4200's on it. They do make it a tad nose heavy.
I also have a flybarred X5 that uses VX4200's. The EX actually measured less weight on my scales, dispite the specs saying a few grams heavier than the VX.

Seems like hyperion packs take about 10ish cycles to start coming on strong. And they are still improving nearing 20 cycles on the EX

You'll love the X5 with the mini-v. I wasn't a believer until i saw for myself.Has become my favourite flyer. 5min sports/bad collective managed 2.2d uses about 2500mah at 2600 governed. The HS isn't needed but makes for a good show

Enjoy

Vas

Hi!

I still havent tried them with full HS and flying my ordinary routine since the weather and light doesnt allow me to.

And today its snowing as h*ll, hopefully tomorrow I can try give them a beating!

From what I can tell so far, they rock compared to my Turnigy 3300mah 30C and 3000 35C, but there's no rocketsience to see why..

Got the Jive installed and working well.

Setup:

vbar 5.0 (full size black)
BLS451's on cyclic
BLS251 on tail
Jive 100LV
Scorpion LE motor
6s Hyperion 4200's

Nrml: 2400 @ 75% flat governed
Idle 1: 2500 @ 80% " "
Idle 2: 2600 @ 87% " "

All pitch curves are linear +/- 13*. Average five minutes of sport and basic 3d in idle 1.

Hey guys!

I am a proud owner of a X5. I live in Sweden. The models shipped here do not have the battery stop next to the motor. Do you know if there´s a way to buy it somewhere?

Looks really nice..

That's a separate purchase.

Just ordered mine today

X5 flybarless kit
Edge 523 mains
Edge 86 tail blades
x3 BLS451
BLS251 tail
stock esc for now
mini v 5.0

Will keep you posted how it goes. Little nervous on setting up the geometry. I've read the 4200 packs make the heli a little nose heavy, should I try 4000?

Post your flybarless X5 photos, files and setup notes here! If you have questions regarding a fbl X5 feel free to post those here too. It doesn't matter which system you fly. We're not looking to answer any questions about which system is best. If you feel strongly about that and need to say so - please, start another thread. The goal here is to be helpful. If you are new to fbl, there can be a bit of a learning curve. Some frustration in the beginning should probably be expected. Hopefully we can keep the difficulty to a minimum and maximise the fun.

Peace out!
Hi,
I am not familiar with Mikado Mini V-Bar which I will be using on my X5 FES. Could you just recommend a starting point for me?

I had setup Align FL 760 system before on my Trex 500 FBL and it was really easy but this one is a little challenging for me...
When connected to the computer in setup mode everything works perfectly (swashplate moves just like it is supposed to do)
But when I exit setup mode and move the swash up and down it moves weirdly. I mean sometimes pitch servo travels higher, sometimes elevator, sometimes aileron.
Is this normal behavior of this system? (Heli is connected to computer and grounded just battery connected and electronics active)
I have JR DSX9 Radio and chose 1 servo mode. In Mini V-Bar program I chose 3 servo 120 CCPM. Are these OK?

Sorry for my bad English by the way.

Thanks

Hi Centurion

I too was confused by this strange behaviour of the V-Bar when I was setting up my TDR.

Provided you have followed the instructions step by step and by the book, then yes, this is perfectly normal behaviour of the V-Bar as the control loop is active.

I am sure one of the other Guru's like Terrabit or Vas will be along shortly to confirm this!

Agreed. I would recommend watching MrMel's vbar 101 videos.

Probably among the more important aspects of setting up vbar is making sure that your sensor installation agrees with the diagram in the 5.0 setup software. If you miss this detail, vbar may correct in the opposite direction on spoolup causing a rollover. But if you can just follow the directions, the whole setup process is dead simple.

Keep us posted on your progress.

G, you got that pod-racer hammering yet ??

Watch the Mr.Mel vids.....and then watch them again.
Just follow the steps in the vbar program for setting up. Pay particular attention to servo layout/position. V5 was very straight forward and walks you through all the steps. Hover your cursor of the relevant sections on the page and it will explain more.
If doing a trim flight, do so a on a calm day and follow the procedure. Optimises are on by default iirc,,,, do a few normal flights and when happy turn them off , otherwise it will keep trying to get right on every flight.

For me it was quite daunting as i couldn't physically see what was making the movements but don't stress...You WILL love it and is very straight forward once the head gets around it

Just yell if any questions

Enjoy

Vas

Maidened the TDR last weekend Vas!

Hammering, well that will be a no, not yet anyway. Spent most of last weekend setting up V-Bar for 1400RPM HS getting the tail locked in and Agility setting to my liking.
Was gonna work on the 1650RPM HS this weekend but the weather has turned nasty, so probably wont do so till the temperature gets above 5 degrees.

My mate took some footage, sorry no 3D , just some tame figure of 8 circuits (for obvious reasons.....................)
