How to mix or mux multiple 3-pos switches into a single ch? SD-10g
For instance, take a NAZA, WooKong, 3DR APM autopilot, etc.. they like multiple modes.
I'm trying to figure out a way to get 2 of the 3-pos switches on ch5 (or any ch for that matter). So you have like something like this.. Switch position.. #1 manual #2 GPS #3 LAUNCH #4 RTL (return to land) #5 Loiter #6 Stabilize Thanks!

just need to know how to do it? Or if it's possible...
I'd like as many switch modes or positions on 1 ch as possible.

so no answer to this or no one knows?
If not, this is going to be a disappointing blow as I see all my Futaba buddies doing this

I've been too busy to look at it. I'm looking at it now though. I'll let you know what I figure out.

You're going to end up with a switch overlap trying to do that I'm thinking. Why couldn't you split it to 2 channels.

I think you could do it with a VR knob. but using 2 or 3 switches would be a lot simpler.

The reason ch splitting can't be done is because on modern autopilots/flight-controllers, they have the "MODE" on 1 input ch only.
So like the DJI NAZA, WooKong, etc,etc you need to have multiple switch positions muxed to 1 ch to switch through all the different modes. Using a VR would be fine, but in a crisis situation, or when things get nuts, you need a switch to flip quick. At the minimum, I need 5 positions (so using 2- 3pos switches) can give me that. Here's a list of the modes for example... http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_ModeSwitch And of course, EVERY possible transmitter except ours listed on how to do it.. http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/Sixmodes

So looking through the DX8, DX7, and DX6i radio settings from that list it looks like its a matter of what needs to be mixed together and how much to get the results that youre wanting and the SD10G is more then capable of doing this.
Now the big question of course is what and how much. I noticed this video looking through the links that you posted. Could it be of any help? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=E7RE1B0lhk4 |

It's similar and thanks for the vid. The ArduPilot/APM board I'm running is the latest gen. 2.5/PX4 stuff. Again, in that video he's showing only 3 positions.
I have that now, but I see people flying NAZAs and WooKong's with 5 or more settings. At the very least 5 positions. But that multi-pos switch is pretty cool. Any idea how I could mix 2 switches together? At the minimum, I need 4 (MANUAL, STABILIZE, RTL, LOITER, AUTO) Thanks!

Ill take a look at my radio when I get home and get back to you.
What youre looking for are the mix menus. I cant remember which menu their under but theyre in there. I just looked it up and its in the F-Mode menu. There a bunch of mix options 14. Mixing: This has all the special mixing, each one can be different for every different flight mode. See below for all of them. A. AI to RU 1 B. AI to RU 2 C. AI to RU 3 D. AI to FL 1 E. AI to FL 2 F. FL to EL This is up to a 9 point curve, and has a cool graph to see what your actually changing. G. RU to AI H. GE to EL I. MT to EL J. CB to EL This is up to a 9 point curve, and has a cool graph to see what your actually changing. K. EL to CB This is up to a 9 point curve, and has a cool graph to see what your actually changing. 15. C-mix: There are 5 different C-mixes that allow you to mix any one function to another. All these have a 9 point curve as well. From there you would go into your switch assign to put your mixes on whatever switch you want them on. |

I think that I may of found what you're looking for.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1786802 "Using ARDUPILOT with the AIRTRONICS SG-10 SYSTEM Flight Mode Programming Recently, I have been working with APM2.0 and Mission Planner 1.2.26 mav 1.0. Here are some notes on how I set up the TX to set APMs flight modes with the Airtronics SG-10 TX and 92674 7ch RX. There were 4 modes within the APM I was interested in; namely Manual, Stabilize, Auto, and RTL. (return to launch point) Since there are no 4-position switches on this TX, I needed to figure out how to provide four levels of (PWM) pulse rates from a single channel. This would in turn connect to the Ardupilot 2.0 unit on input #8 as described here... http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/APM2RC On the SG-10, any control function can be assigned to any channel. The SG-10 TX includes channels El, AI, RU, TH, GE, FL and AUXs 1 thru 4. The APM uses input on its ch #8 as its’ MODE SWITCH input. In other words, the PWM rate the APU sees on ch 8 sets the APM flight mode. There are other modes besides the ones I was interested in, but I only needed MANUAL, STABILIZE, AUTO, and RTL. The SG-10 toggle-switches are almost all 3-position. Any Switch may be assigned to one or more of the various functions… e.g. dual-rate, exponential, etc… but it isn’t as simple as just assigning a switch to a function or channel. Normally, an aux channel is associated with a 3-way toggle switch which can be set at center, high, and low. Fortunately, the SG-10 allows for custom mixing whereby one channel’s controls can effect another. A common example is mixing aileron with rudder, or flap with elevator. When mixing is used, you can alter the “slave” channel output (PWM) value by mixing in from a “master” channel and thus attain an additional mode value in addition to the three available. BTW, I’m flying a ship with elevons using channels 1-2, and 3 for throttle). I used channel 4 as the mode switch signal plugged into the APM channel 8 input per the diagram referenced above. Two of the SG-10's 3-way toggle-switches are used. These are labeled on the SG-10 TX as (positions) 1|2|3 on one switch, and 4|5|6 on the other. I selected the 3-way (4|5|6) switch for selecting MANUAL | STABILIZE | AUTO modes, respectively, and position 3 on the (1|2|3) toggle-switch for the RTL mode switch. Both switches are on the right hand side of the TX and easily switched with the right-hand index finger while still operating the elevons with the thumb. (or other appendage) I set it up so that switch position 1 on the 1|2|3 switch activates the RTL mode only when switch position 4 is also selected (on the 4|5|6 switch). To set up the switches and mix, I performed the following programming via SG-10 controls and menu. References in caps are to the programming-screen labels in the SG-10 TX menus. under SYSTEM in the main menu select “12. CH ASSIGN” and set the channels as follows: ...CH01 EL …CH02 AI …CH03 TH ...CH04 A1 …CH05 A2 under SYSTEM menu again, select “13. SW ASSIGN” and set the switches as follows: …AUX1-L 06 ...AUX1-H 04 …AUX2-L 01 OR 2 (this is the boolean OR in the menu) …AUX2-H 03 In the following step, select “F_MODE” in the main menu then select “18. C-MIX”. NOTE: In the C-MIX menu, your should see “F_MODE(N)” where N is an SG-10 (not an APM) flight mode number. If you see “F-MODE(1) or F-MODE(2) use the SG-10 mode select switch to set it to “F-MODE(N)” literally. The SG-10 has 5 flight modes that control internal TX operations but are not pertinent herein. See the SG-10 docs for more info. Moving along… In the “18. C-MIX” menu set C-MIX > 1 COMMON>COM NOTE: “COM” means that the mix works in all flight modes on TX. Make sure “COM” is selected. MASTER>AUX2 NOTE: These flight modes are NOT the APM flight modes, but internal to TX operation. SLAVE >AUX1 select POINT >9… and set RATE to -3% NOTE: these are RATE settings tweaked to provide desired RTL’s PWM select POINT >1… and set RATE to 31% With the values set as above, all four modes can be set within the APM. Your TX may output slightly different PWM values, but these should be close. There are other ways to order these modes, but I used the Mission Planner’s default order. The idea is to tweak the RATE settings to obtain the desired PWN rates that select the desired mode(s). Of course you use the ARDUPLANNER / CONFIGURATION / FLIGHT MODEs screen to see and adjust to the correct values which of course means that the APM must be plugged into the computers' USB port, the MISSION PLANNER program running and connected to the APM via the “CONNECT” action. sw..........flight mode ......PWM rate output on rx channel 4, input on APM channel 8 ----------------------------------------------- 6...... 5 (MANUAL) 1712 5...... 4 (STABILIZE) 1493 4...... 2 (AUTO) 1313 1 AND 4.... 1 (RTL) 1190 ...NOTE: AND insures that RTL only works in AUTO So, during flight, you would have 4|5|6 switch set at 4, and the 1|2|3 switch set to 2 or 3 (either) for MANUAL mode “ 4|5|6 switch set at 5, and the 1|2|3 switch set to 2 or 3 (either) for STABILIZE mode “ 4|5|6 switch set at 6, and the 1|2|3 switch set to 2 or 3 (either) for AUTO mode “ 4|5|6 switch set at 6 and 1|2|3 switch set to 1 for RTL mode." |

Awesome!!
Thanks for this! Even though I still need rudder on ch4, I'm sure now that I have something to go on, I can make it work. Just I have to figure out this trickery..because the Super SkySurfer is a full house ship.. 4 servos in the wing.. So I'm using Ch's 1-4 for the normal stuff (ail-ele,throt,rud). Ch5 &6 is Differential Flaps Quote:

Dont forget that you can put anything on any channel you want, rudder doesnt have to be on ch 4. nothing has to be on a certain channel. Everything can be moved around if you need it to be using the channel assign (12. CH Assign) menu within the system menu.

Started working on it last night and then my battery died. So it charged over night so I'll report back today. I'm pretty sure this will do what I need.
I just have to get used to the more adv C-MIX programming, etc. Thanks again for this!

Working on it today guys! promise!! Last week I had the LA Marathon and I was bonked.. One of my sites had a pwr outage on Monday so I've been replacing core routers and switches all week
so now I finally have some free time to start programming again..
