Default High Current JST connectors?

So I recently picked up a Trex 250 that has a non JST connector on it. I'd like to move back to a JST because I have a Blade 200SRX now and a 230S coming soon so I'd like to stay with that format.

I ordered a set from HK and they just appear to be super flimsy, the conductor is about as thick as a couple layers of aluminum foil.

Are there any JST connectors available that use a more robust metal insert?

Not that I have seen. You are better off not using JST connectors due to their low amp rating. They are only good to around 5 amps or so, depending on who you talk to. I use to use Deans micro plugs as an upgrade to replace JST connectors until XT30's came out. Now, XT30's are all I use. They are the perfect size for smaller helis and quads, really easy to solder and are rated to 30 amps.

Here is a pic of both to give you a size comparison. They are about the same.

My recommendation is also to move away from jst on anything drawing more amp than the 200SRX or similar. I have even changed my connectors on my 200SRX to XT30s. Just to be sure. I see jst as low amp draw connectors. Even if the manufacturers use them on their helis I do not thrust they can draw the amp all over the power band you give your heli. I might be wrong, but then again why not be on the safe side and make sure your heli get the juice it needs right?
